| juliw | posted 29-Jul-2002 5:50pm My favorite is pop (soda, soda pop), but I rarely drink it anymore. I mostly drink water or Propel (a flavored water made by Gatorade). |

| Galomorro | posted 29-Jul-2002 9:01pm Coffee I guess, since it's so much more readily available in the US than the Brazilian herb guaraná. But my coffee has to be "doctored." I like vanilla and lots of milk, and chocolate and cinnamon are nice too. I do like my caffeine fix in the a.m. and throughout the day until at least 1 p.m. or so. |
| wolfchik9 | posted 30-Jul-2002 8:03am Coffee is my favorite but isn't always available to me every morning. Usually, I drink chocolate milk or skip the whole breakfast/morning thing and go right to a cold can or bottle of Coke. |

| Enheduanna | (reply to Galomorro) posted 30-Jul-2002 10:35am Is guarana the same as yerba mate or terere? |

| NthenSome | posted 30-Jul-2002 8:50pm Milk! (Got it?) |
| NthenSome | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 30-Jul-2002 8:52pm Yeah, but by the sounds of it, you need your coffee. Here: |
| Galomorro | (reply to Enheduanna) posted 30-Jul-2002 11:35pm Well, no I think it's a different herb but it still has the substance caffeine in it! I have heard of both yerba maté and tereré. Guarana is from herbal berries that grow in tropical countries, especially Brazil. I have had really good experiences with this herb for many years. It kind of stays with you when you really need it and, for some people, doesn't make you really jumpy and nervous like coffee does... It is good for constipation also. It is very good for energy. I have heard that Native Brazilians used to use the herb to allay hunger pains. I am obviously a big guaraná fan and am happy to see it being contained in more and more various sports and energy drinks these days. |

| Andyroo | posted 31-Jul-2002 8:31am Water... I can't have OJ anymore |
| Enheduanna | (reply to Galomorro) posted 31-Jul-2002 8:57am Mate and terere are the same thing--mate is hot and terere is cold. Terere has got to be the most refreshing thing ever; it's perfect on a hot summer day. There's no caffeine in it, but it has some other stimulant, so it's good for getting going in the morning, too. Have you been to South America? |
| Biggles | (reply to Andyroo) posted 31-Jul-2002 9:49am Is he on the run again? |
| Andyroo | (reply to Biggles) posted 31-Jul-2002 11:09am who? |
| Biggles | (reply to Andyroo) posted 31-Jul-2002 11:22am OJ. Sorry, I didn't sleep last night so I've gone a bit crazy....... Nice to see you back here |

| Biggles | (reply to Andyroo) posted 31-Jul-2002 4:02pm |
| Galomorro | (reply to Enheduanna) posted 31-Jul-2002 8:39pm Thanks for the explanation of maté and tereré. Oh, I read someplace that maté *does* have caffeine in it. I have not been to America do Sul but I feel I probably lived in Brasil in a past life, specifically Rio. And you? |
| Enheduanna | (reply to Galomorro) posted 31-Jul-2002 8:52pm I've visited Chile and Paraguay. It was in Paraguay that I really got turned on to mate/terere (which definitely doesn't have caffeine in it, although it could be mixed with regular tea, I suppose)--they drink it all the time there. |
| Galomorro | (reply to Enheduanna) posted 31-Jul-2002 8:56pm Ah, HA -- Paraguai (as it is spelled in Brazil). I heard the name terere mentioned in an old Brazilian country music (caipira) song by Tonico & Tinoco called "Coisas do Paraguai." I'd read about maté because I am interested in herbs (grow a few myself). |
| Enheduanna | (reply to Galomorro) posted 31-Jul-2002 8:58pm Yeah, I think they call it terere in Brazil, too. A friend brought me back some yerba mate from Rio, and the word terere was on the bag. |
| freebird_old | posted 1-Aug-2002 3:36am Some kind of juice, lemonade or a V-8. I'm not a coffee drinker. |
| dora | (reply to NthenSome) posted 1-Aug-2002 10:17am That icon looks more like a pint of Guinness than anything else.Or is just me? |
| NthenSome | (reply to dora) posted 1-Aug-2002 1:51pm Hm. Interesting. It's an animation that is designed to appear just how you would need it to appear - to reveal to each individual what their choice of a.m. beverage would be. Guinness beer, eh? Are we "tipping" them a smidge early these days? Haha. Yes, you're right, I should have used my "cup of coffee body dip" smiley for that occasion. |
| Cleo | (reply to juliw) posted 1-Aug-2002 7:15pm It's really good! You simply must try it. It's a bit of coffee [about a teaspoon of instant coffee] & some scoops of vanilla coffe with a little milk. Put it in a blender[I'm lazy so I just mix it by hand] & enjoy. |
| Galomorro | (reply to Enheduanna) posted 1-Aug-2002 9:16pm Thanks for the info. If I ever see it anywhere I'm now gonna want to try it for myself. |

I am reminded of that cute commercial of the old couple talking about how they used to skinny dip when the weather got to hot. & the old man would say "What? What?" "Oh Rose!" His bewildered look is the cutest thing at the end of the commercial. I love that! Their so cute! You aren't holding me up silly boi! Jules wanted to go to chat with me at 7:00pm (that was hours & hours ago).So I told her not to reply to me anymore or I would never be able to go to chat with her. How come you never go to chat? |
