Survey Central - how many times did you check to see if this site had been fixed during the recent two-day outage?

Are you an avid SC member? During the recent two-day outage of this site, did you experience the "SC DTs" (withdrawals)? Did you break into a frantic frenzy, a cold sweat? Were you unable to occupy yourself with the freed-up time in the absence of SC?

Elect which number of times you frequented the broken-down site during the outage.

VotesAnswer
2Zero times ................ a fly-by-night member who probably didn't make it back to answer this survey
1Only once ................ a member who lies
1Twice is all ................ keeps company with the above member
2Three times ................ newcomer to SC
6Four times ................ newcomer to SC but here long enough to bring about a little concern for the outage
4Five - eight ................ likely to have left alarmed note in Feedback once site returned; needs to discuss this in Forum
6Nine - twelve ................ still annoyed; people in the immediate area knew to avoid this person until site was remedied
4Above twelve ................ call this member's local hospital and relay to them that the site is back up and running
2Half-million ................ to this devoted member, we bid: "God rest their Souls."
10"What outage?" ................ the more fortunate member who validates the adage "Ignorance is bliss..."

Probably 3 or 4 times. I'm not a newcomer, though. I have been busy painting and redecorating my bedroom and haven't had a lot of extra time for the computer.

By the way, my bedroom turned out great. I love it so much. Dominic doesn't really like it that much, but he'll deal with it. He was pissed at first, but decided to try to learn to live with it.

A few, I think. I mostly just thought I had done something to screw up my access, and I don't care to remind myself how inadept I am very often.

I think about ten, but I checked a whole bunch of times in a row thinking it was my computer.

This is the first I've heard of it. I was away on a little vacation for a few days. I guess I picked a good time.

Above 12 and then I gave up and went to the coast for 2 days. The site was back up and running when I got back late Saturday night.

Probably at least half a dozen. SC is one of my favorite study breaks. But I wasn't alarmed or panicky, and I did not feel the need to discuss it in Feedback or Forum, or to make a survey about it! * wink *

twice on Friday.

And I didn't get a chance to get on Thursday anyway.

I had never relised it was a two day thing, until I have checked the Feedback and Furum. I wanted to see if it was just me or everyone for an entire day. Turned out it was actually 2 days.

On the bright side, the extra day that I missed, no one else got on, thus one day less for me to catch up on what I missed.

I was checking it about every 2 minutes. All day long. for about 8-12 hours. So... over 12 times.

I think we can safely say you're an "avid" member. I checked myself every time I had a second (and thought about it). Amazing how people have grown to really miss the place when it's unavailable to them for such a short period of time.

About 8 times on Thursday. Then about 10 times on Friday - nearly on the hour every hour. Then ran home and checked it again and found it on but painfully slow. I decided to have an SC break for the full weekend.

About half a million before I started emailing bill and people I know he has contact with. Romkey ultimately passed the message to bill and he fixed the site.

bill does not have to keep this site running. He could shut it down at anytime if he wanted to. Make it worth his while and subscribe. It is not very expensive. I will be subscribing again with 2 months.

This message has been brought to you by ASB, SC, and the following liberal groups...
The "PayUP Society", the "Send Po' Bill Some Mo' Bills Group", and "More Cash, Less Crash", all supporters of the site.
Ask your doctor if YOU need SC. Side effects reported with the use of SC include headaches, fever, sweaty palms, slight dementia and occasional death by starvation or dehydration.
Of course, keep all keyboards out of reach of adult members.

The first option is cute but so true.

I tried to tap SC several times late Wednesday night. When I couldn't get on,I thought it was my server(MSN).......AGAIN. So like an idiot I kept trying & trying & trying & trying.

On Thursday morning I tried again & I still couldn't get on. So then I started thinking that I had tapped a virus on another site by mistake. & began to think that now my puter was infected with some horrible virus that wouldn't let me on SC. (in a state of paranoia at this point) I started thinking,"Oh my gosh! Now I've really gone & done it,I've totally crashed Bills site!" Oh,oh, I'm in deep ^&*$% now!

Then on Friday morining again no SC. * frown *
By this time I started E mailing people(you know who you are)telling them I was having a hard time getting on SC.Hoping against all hope that they didn't suspect, that I had anything to do with the downing of the site. A few loyal SC junkies(you know who you are)e-mailed me back & we were having a little mini SC of our own. * smile * I still owe you an e-mail Dino. * smile *

What a cool chick,ASB * smile * was to e-mail me & tell me what the problem was. Boy was I was relieved to know that,I hadn't single handedly crashed Bills site. **sigh of relive**

But by then it was too late,I was already experiencing SC withdrawals (tho I would NOT admit it to anyone & played it off calm cool & collected)

**stand up & proudly proclaims**
Hi! My name is dabprovin & I'm SC junkie & I need help!
**clapping,clapping,clapping**

Welcome dabprovin!

hmmm... you'd have to ask Jen. Bill did end up spending a bunch of time working on the systems instead of doing Vegas things, like having hookers thrust pamphlets advertising their services into his hands - no wait, that happened more than enough as it was.

I don't know if Jen was pissed but I'm sure she would have been a lot happier had there not been a problem. And sometimes folks do become pretty demanding... I have problems with that with the users on the system I run (apocalypse.org). I haven't read all the forum messages so I don't have an opinion on them.

I feel a bit bad for letting him know there was a problem, on the other hand, I'd have felt worse for withholding information and I think he'd already figured out there was a problem.
