| grmbrand | posted 25-Jun-2002 7:39pm Nope. I hate carrying around random extra stuff. |
| Zang | posted 25-Jun-2002 10:41pm No, and I don't think that I ever have. |
| mandy | posted 25-Jun-2002 11:03pm No |
| Enheduanna | posted 25-Jun-2002 11:34pm No. I have a couple of house keys (to other people's houses) that I rarely use, but I know what all the keys are for and theoretically can use them all. |
| SueBee | posted 26-Jun-2002 12:48am No, I only carry keys that I use regularly... house key garage door key car key gas cap key key to my workplace key to the file cabinet at work I have a couple other key chains that I leave at home unless I need them with keys to things like my boss' other store (in case of emergency), our safe deposit box, an extra house key, and a few others. Some of those I have forgotten what they go to, but at least I don't carry them around with me all the time! |
| romkey | posted 26-Jun-2002 2:21am not at all. I carry very few keys around and don't want to carry more than I need. |
| mikehunt696 | posted 26-Jun-2002 3:06am I used to, but not anymore. |
| NthenSome | posted 26-Jun-2002 3:46am I have 3 keys to return to my Mom and her husband, from feeding their cats while they were away on their cruise last week, one to return to the master at work for an office I don't need anymore, and one mystery car key. I think that one is from my twenties, when I got so drunk with my brother-in-law in Vegas that we couldn't find the car the next morning. (Actually, we did find it late that evening, so this unidentified key is finally going to go away, I think. Since you brought it up.) |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 26-Jun-2002 3:51am Until about a year ago I did, but got tired of carrying about keys for the laundry room (even after the Fire Marshall told the owner he had to remove the locks from the laundry room) and I've since moved away from there, keys to a previous house, to my son's bike lock (a spare) from a bike he had when he was 10 years old (he's 21), a key to a neighbor's apartment (she was elderly and in poor health and wanted me to check on her from time to time) that not only haven't I lived next to for 7 years, but has passed away to boot. It must be the packrat in me, but recently I said NO MORE and now only have 2 keys on my keyring, the housekey for the deadbolt lock and one for the padlock on the storage unit I rent. |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to Zang) posted 26-Jun-2002 3:55am You sneaky so-and-so! I thought for certain that this was one of Cleo's surveys after the teasing I have been giving her about her overloaded keyring on the other keyring survey. |
| freebird_old | posted 26-Jun-2002 4:54am Nope, I just carry the ones I use everyday. |
| Amanda | posted 26-Jun-2002 5:30am No. I have a lot of keys, but I have a use for all of them. |
| Dino | posted 26-Jun-2002 7:41am No. Everything I carry on my person has a usage. What I carry in my bag however is a different matter altogether. Like there's stuff in there that is positively antique and put there -'just in case...'. |
| TeddyMiller | posted 26-Jun-2002 11:09am No. I've got four keys: for my desk and the men's room at work, and the two locks at home. |
| confetti | posted 26-Jun-2002 2:12pm Yes. |
| Biggles | posted 26-Jun-2002 2:34pm I just carry around my front door key. |
| Zang | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 26-Jun-2002 4:38pm ...and I thought (from your previous comments) that you knew it was me because of the conversation I was having with natsim. She suggested I do this survey. |
| darkshadowsseeker | (reply to Zang) posted 26-Jun-2002 5:08pm I must have missed that conversation. |
| dora | posted 26-Jun-2002 5:42pm I hardly carry around keys that I actually need.I keep losing my keys. |
| LuridHope | posted 26-Jun-2002 7:38pm I had a key to bike lock for the longest time. |
| juliw | posted 26-Jun-2002 8:50pm I have a couple of keys in my purse that are not even on my key ring. I have no idea what the keys are for. |
| roozle | posted 26-Jun-2002 10:40pm Yes, there's several keys here that I either use very rarely or really can't remember what they're for. |
| spidertea | posted 27-Jun-2002 12:06am I took them off to make room for more keychains. |
| wolfchik9 | posted 27-Jun-2002 3:02am I used to have random keys on my keychain to make my keys heavier and they would always be on the bottom of my purse and easier to find. I had a key to the shed behind our house (I hadn't been in there in 8 years), the key to the deadbolt on our front door (we never lock that unless we go on vacation), and some other keys (???). |
| they | posted 27-Jun-2002 12:17pm Yep. |
| Irene007 | posted 27-Jun-2002 9:55pm Not sure... |
| moonstone | posted 27-Jun-2002 10:35pm Yes, I think I have a key for my friends old house that they no longer live in anymore. And, a key to a masterlock, but I don't know where or what I have locked up... |
| natsim | (reply to Zang) posted 28-Jun-2002 1:04am So far the women are doing a little worse than the men, but it's close. I'm including the woman who is unsure what keys she's got in the "Yes" category! |
| Zang | (reply to natsim) posted 28-Jun-2002 3:04am I checked it when there were fewer than 10 responses, and there was only one "yes", it was from a woman. Later, I checked when more had responded and male "yes" responses were ahead. Now, as you pointed out, the female "yes" responses are ahead again (36%/28%). The sample size is just way too small to take seriously (43). |
| bill | posted 30-Jun-2002 7:59am I'm into minimal keys... car, PO box, house (maybe I could skip this one as we never lock the house anymore)... and a Mobil speed-pass. |
| natsim | (reply to Zang) posted 30-Jun-2002 6:44pm It's almost exactly even now... at 48 votes... What do you mean... we can't take survey results seriously here? Geez... I've already formed all of my opinions based on the survey results i've seen here! |
| Zang | (reply to natsim) posted 1-Jul-2002 8:25am Yeah, it is pretty close, but the women are still slightly ahead. Of course you can take it seriously...if there's an overwhelming result, or if hundreds of people respond...or if you just lack any other ammunition to back up your position in an argument... |
| oOStephOo | posted 4-Jul-2002 11:42pm I don't usually carry around my keys unless I am going somewhere and they are usually in my purse anyway. |
| cuteasabutton | posted 10-Jul-2002 11:30pm Yes- I have a key for my totaled car- too lazy and/or forgetful to take it off. |
