Non-fiction, probably. I never go to my local library, though. I use the one at school, and I almost always check out books I need for whatever I'm working on (non-fiction). I buy or borrow the fiction books I read.

I haven't been going to the library as much lately. It used to be just a few blocks away. When I was going more often, I would usually get books on tape, non-fiction (music most of the time), and I was on a John Grisham kick for a while. I think I've read all his books now...

Hardcover science fiction or fantasy, typical authors would be Piers Anthony and Harry Turtledove, since my local library gets those in long before the paperback editions come out.

It's horrid isn't it? I had 2 Sociology exams yesterday and 2 General Studies today. On Monday I have 2 Biology exams. By that point I'll have done 11 exams and I'll just have 10 to go *smile* I'm an idiot, nobody should ever do more than 3 subjects!!!

You have a whole ecology exam? That's nasty *frown* Ecology is my least favourite subject in all of Biology. Yet it always seems to crop up. When I had my interview at Oxford I got loads of questions about it!

Good luck with the rest of your exams *smile*

I've got no clue. When I go to the library, I walk around aimlessly looking at books and go to the computer and look for a good and interesting book. I finally end up getting tired of being there and walk down a few aisles and grab a few books that I haven't even looked at and check them out. This process seems to work for me. I always end up checking out some pretty good books. There are times when I know exactly what I'm looking for, like when somebody recommends a great book. I buy a lot of books, so I don't go to the library very often anymore.

Wow. That's a lot of exams. I'm sure you'll do fine though, good luck with them! *smile* Science 10 is divided into 4 sections. First is meteorology, and at midterm you have an exam. Then you have physics, and at exam-time, you have an exam on that. Then you get a new teacher and do chemistry until the midterm, and have an exam on that. The last one I do is ecology, and now, it's exam time and I have an exam for that. So, it's really only little courses, and it will be a short exam.

Both photosynthesis and respiration are actually several complex reactions - which I have to know in detail........*weeps* I've been panicking today *frown* I just don't know how to fit in all of the revision that I need. My exams next week should be okay, but the week after! *dead face* I have three Politics exams, a Sociology exam and two Chemistry exams and I haven't revised for *any* of them. And I keep wondering why I feel so sick so much of the time! If I can just get through my exams next week, I can reassess my situation then.

Do you veer get the feeling that they'll never end? I feel that way, except at the same time I feel like they're all coming too soon before I have time to prepare! *laughing out loud*

Fiction. I go to the crime section (a current phase), then the fantasy fiction, then the women's (feminist) section, then the gay section then I scout the display showing the new just in or bestsellers. Then I'll head for the mainstream fiction. I mostly ignore the non-fiction etc. I used to read a lot of psychology self-help books but I was still f***ed up so I gave them up.

It's very good. They should have it in your library by now, because I have had the paperback for awhile. Of course, I live in the States, so maybe that makes a difference. By the way, I have an MP-3 site for you to check out-www.10mph.net. It's my cousin's band. They are coming out with a CD soon. It is rock-some of it kind of hard music, but really good. Wow, and I thought I was obsessive because when I discover a new author I like I tend to try to read his or her books in chronological order. Weren't those books in the numbers under 100 really heavy reading? How long has it taken you to get that far?
natsim
(reply to SueBee) posted 17-Jun-2002 3:04am

I started at the beginning of the year... basically I only take the books that look interesting, so I skipped the ones that were just bibliographies of genealogical records (!). There are some really interesting books under 100, including biographies of journalists, and books on historic books and the history of publishing. I'm finding the 100s harder because it's lots of philosophy books so far; something I find interesting, but I still get confused about the basic theories of significant philosophers. I'm really enjoying it though, and if I decide the book is not very good, I don't have to finish it.

Thanks for the Charlotte Church track... I am amazed how similar we sound, but I sure didn't sound like that when I was 12!!

How were your exams today? I had ecology and bio, and they weren't bad. I didn't think I'd pass the biology exam. I'm not joking, I honestly thought there was a good chance that I'd fail, but I'm pretty confident that I passed now. I'm sure you'll do fine, but all of those exams do seem really overwhelming. Are you sick too? I am sooooooo sick right now. I started losing my voice and had a sore throat on thursday, and now I can barely speak. My throat kills, I have an awful cough, and I'm sniffing and sneezing today. This is horrible. I got worse yesterday, and I was like "I can't be sick! I don't have time to be sick!" It's so hard to concentrate when you are sick. I know your feeling. It seems like the exams will never ever end, but then it seems like you have had no time to get ready. I mean, my friend gets back from Greece on friday after being gone for two weeks, and me and the friend I was studying with today were like "Didn't she just leave?" because we feel like there was no time to study in between exams and when classes ended.

It got published, and the story was on the news, and the school lowered the worth of the provincial (exam) on the term.
