I think it's going to turn out like the Polly Klaas case. That she was kidnapped, raped and murdered.

There isn't much to go on. The screen being cut from the inside makes the "stranger" theory seem unlikely, but the younger sister's story seems to be unassailable. I seriously doubt if this Edmunds character is going to be able to shed any light on the situation. The timing is all wrong, and the identification isn't even accurate. I think the police are flummoxed.

Another pretty blonde well off child goes missing and everyone's in a tizzy. Question: Would this case have any kind of media attention at all if this child was Hispanic, Asian or Black and from a poor family?

I think she was kidnapped by someone who had been in the house (the screen was cut from the inside), raped and murdered. I'm not certain if it was a family friend, family member or perhaps just an acquaintance, but I do believe this person knew the layout of the house and had been planning this for awhile. While this has similarities as kate said to the Polly Klaas case, it also has some similarities to the Jon Benet Ramsey case as well.

This story says that Edmunds was "seen" by the milkman: http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/06/13/hattori.otsc/?related

Leave it to CNN to strive for accuracy in reporting...

You have a valid point there. Look how long it took for the authorities in Florida to discover that little girl that was missing from her foster care home. I have a feeling that her caretaker isn't telling the whole story, but the social workers were not doing their jobs either. The social services agency was given a deadline to locate all the children in the foster care system and didn't meet it and as a result, some were fired. I wonder how many children are missing nationwide in the foster care system? What really galls me is that while the Florida foster care system is losing children, they won't let gays adopt, they can be foster parents, but they can't legally adopt. That's intolerable!

Of course not! Don't be silly! Did you see my comments in this survey?

That guy was busy doing his thing for about 15 years. I'll bet they would have caught him a lot faster if his victims were white women from West Vancouver rather than Native prostitutes from the Downtown Eastside.

I don't care to speculate, I just heard about it this morning ... I don't know what to make of it.

Maybe her sister killed her accidentally and her parents are covering it up to protect the sister.

I wouldn't care to speculate. I hope that she is alive and has not been harmed. I also hope she will be returned safely to her parents (if they were not involved).

I think O.J. did it, and Gary Condit and the Ramseys helped him cover it up. *smile*

That was so sad about that little girl missing in Florida. I'm with you, I doubt the caretaker is telling the whole truth, but that's beside the point. What the hell was the little girl's social worker doing all this time? This should have never happened and they know it. I'm surprised that the public ever found out about it. Government agencies usually try to keep things like that silent.

O.J. didn't do it!!!! *wink* He was too busy trying to find a look alike Nicole to date.

We agree again...great minds....*smile* There isn't even any evidence other than her younger sister's account and a cut screen. I don't know much about it but she may have run away for all the hard evidence there is. If a minority child was in the same position I don't think we would hear about it until there was more proof of foul play, or a body was found.*frown* I could be wrong though.

That's true. I wonder how many foster children are missing in the system in the entire U.S.? I have a feeling that it probably numbers in the hundreds of thousands!

I think she was kidnapped, very likely raped or sexually abused and murdered. I also think that the killer knew the layout of the house and from what I've heard, a screen was cut from the inside.

I think she ran away with someone (I had to pick love interest but this is false). I reckon she met up with someone who arranged a meet and then took her away and sexually abused and murdered her. These kids rarely turn up alive. I see the news and see some community out searching for some kid and the parents making an appeal on TV. And I sit there thinking - sorry but you won't see your child alive again. And then weeks later they're found - dead.

Who knows? Why is this one case attracting so much attention? There must be thousands of kids missing in the US right now.

I have many different theories, each one as painful to ponder as the last. I'll tell you, however, what I dearly hope for that little girl and any other missing child; that between the hatefulness, greediness and insanity of those around her is a good heart which will try and make sure she's safe.

I was reading in the local Sunday newspaper that several other states have admitted that there they have kids lost in the system. They say that they believe that they are just lost in the shuffle. But, who knows?

We will probably never be told. After all, what's another child to an agency? Certainly not a living, breathing human being, but another case file to stick in a drawer and forget about! Nameless and faceless, that's what most of these children are to their case workers.

If she's been gone this long, she is probably dead. I follow these kidnapping cases quite closely. My dad was a police officer for almost 40 years and I've acquired his investigative nature. I think a friend or family member took her and probably killed her by now. However, since her little sister saw the kidnapper, she must not know him/her if she hasn't said anything by now. So, you never know, it might have been a stranger or someone the little girl didn't remember. I hate cases like these involving little girls. I hope they find her, dead or alive, at least the family can have closure.
