| confetti | posted 7-Jun-2002 8:21pm I love the smell of paint. Also of turpentine, and slightly aged canvas. Scents I link with passion and light and childhood. |
| Galomorro | posted 7-Jun-2002 8:43pm Oil and Lemon-type cleaners. |
| LuridHope | posted 7-Jun-2002 11:23pm Murphy's oil soap. Fresh earth. Hmm... I just love the smell of my own armpits. *smells armpits* that's me alright. |
| Enheduanna | posted 7-Jun-2002 11:24pm I don't *like* to smell any of these. I do sometimes like the smell of dirt, like when I'm gardening, but it's not like I go dirt-sniffing frequently. |
| spidertea | posted 7-Jun-2002 11:24pm Dirt smells earthy and natural and pure. Some household cleaners smell good- like lemon or orange. |
| Irene007 | posted 8-Jun-2002 12:08am Nail polish remover - OK I admit it! |
| Irene007 | (reply to actress) posted 8-Jun-2002 12:10am It's spring and I'm always happy to smell freshly mowed lawns! (sniffed a few today!) |
| Amanda | posted 8-Jun-2002 12:19am None of the above. I don't dislike all of these smells, but I certainly don't like any of them either. |

| kaleb777 | posted 8-Jun-2002 8:17am Of those listed I only like petrol (gasoline). I actually like the exhaust smell to, but only from LRP (lead replacement petrol) not unleaded because it smells sickly. Maybe it's all the carcinogens in unleaded. I remember when I went hiking in the New Zealand mountains. The only thing I craved for the two weeks was the smell of car exhaust. What a city boy! I also LOVE the smell of metho (methylated spirits) and used to clean floors with it. I HATE the smell of kero (kerosine). It makes me want to spew. |
| dora | posted 8-Jun-2002 11:24am Gasoline,glue,nail polish remover,paint.I LOVE them.I can't understand why some people hate them-they are wonderful smells.When I'm in a gas station...mmmm... |
| dora | posted 8-Jun-2002 11:26am The best smell in the world is freshly cut grass, followed by bread just taken from the oven and the rain on metal gates. |

| mandy | posted 8-Jun-2002 2:36pm *huffing* |
| TylersMamma | posted 8-Jun-2002 4:52pm I don't like to sit around and smell them but I do like the smell of some odd things. From the list: Gas, nail polish remover, paint. Not on the list: Marker, moth balls, lighter fluid... I know there's more I just cant think of them at the moment |
| Zang | posted 8-Jun-2002 6:39pm I wouldn't include any of those things on a list of "things I like to smell". Most of them are nasty. Insect spray, fertilizer and oil-based paint are particularly gross. Gasoline and latex paint are okay, I would rate them "mildly appealing". |
| Zang | (reply to TylersMamma) posted 8-Jun-2002 6:43pm I would have to include myself among those who can't take the cap off a white-board marker without waving it briefly under my nose! |
| Jean7777 | posted 8-Jun-2002 10:42pm I like the smell of pinesol or other cleaners. |
| moonstone | posted 8-Jun-2002 11:18pm I don't "like" to smell any of these. But, I don't mind the smell of dirt. |
| TylersMamma | (reply to Zang) posted 9-Jun-2002 5:19am Oddly enough they smell wonderful! |
| freebird_old | posted 9-Jun-2002 6:50am I like to use cleaners that have a citrus sent, and some times the smell of dirt arouses pleasant thoughts....gardening in the yard, potting house plants...that type of thing. |
| snowmoon | posted 9-Jun-2002 1:53pm I love those old Black Magic Markers........ Those were cool......... (These days, they don't smell the same)...... I also love the smell of Vick's Vaporub and the Vick's Inhaler...... |

| cody | posted 9-Jun-2002 11:10pm Good ol' nail polish remover. Though, I don't suspect it's a particularly good idea from a neurological health perspective. |

| Glassa | posted 11-Jun-2002 11:30pm Well, taking into consideration that I have sinus problems and smelling anything is pretty much a small miracle, I'd say I wouldn't mind smelling all of the above. I'd love to be able to taste the full flavor of ice cream again. |
| sunshine | posted 12-Jun-2002 7:51pm One that was missing for me would be wet decaying leaves in autumn. |

I like gas and chalk, too.
