| ASexyBabe | posted 1-Jun-2002 11:18pm no but if you get a bee sting I have a great remedy get some tobbaco from a ciggerette nd get it wet and place it on the sting. It will soothe it and make it not itch later. This works best if done very soon after the sting happens. |
| ASexyBabe | (reply to Enheduanna) posted 1-Jun-2002 11:19pm what kind of toothpaste works best and do you just put it on at night and sleep with it on? |
| romkey | posted 2-Jun-2002 12:07am these are easy. sunburn - aloe vera snoring - smother them to death with a pillow. if that fails, earplugs for the non-snorer sore throat - tea, lemon-ginger or herbal, something non or low-caffeine toothache - advil or a trip to the dentist hangnail - nail trimmers pimples - stop eating chocolate. wash your face. wait till you grow up. |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 2-Jun-2002 12:38am For sunburn I've always used Noxzema, for sore throat and toothace I've always found warm salt water to be helpful. For sore throat you gargle, for toothace you swish your mouth with the warm salt water. I don't know what to tell you about pimples as I've had maybe two in my entire life and I've never had a handnail. As for snoring, the only time I snore is when my allergies are bothering me and I roll over on my back in my sleep. Rolling on my side makes me stop snoring. |
| bobofwestgate | posted 2-Jun-2002 12:45am I don't sunburn so no help there, I don't snore as far as I know, for sore throat I use something like Hallis cough drops, usually the honey-lemon is most soothing to the throat, for a toothace I take some aspirin and get to the dentist as soon as I can, I don't think I've had handnails but I'm not quite sure what a handnail is, for pimples which I haven't had since I was a teen I always used those Stridex pads after washing my face with plain soap and water. It seemed to work okay. |
| Zang | posted 2-Jun-2002 12:58am Sunburn - take a cold bath...with ice cubes Snoring - sex Sore Throat - gargle with salt water Toothache - a clove Hangnail - cut it off, put a band-aid over it, quit biting your nails Pimples - practice good hygiene, eat a proper diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, drink plenty of water |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 2-Jun-2002 6:07am Bleeding - coffee grounds will coagulate a cut that won't stop bleeding. Sunburn - raise your own aloe vera and slather a slice on the sunburn, otherwise buy 100% aleo vera lotion, often it's only a few percent with a deceptive label and green food coloring. Sorethroat - I loved a product called 'cyclone cider' made with vinegar, chili, garlic, and other such things. It was almost worth getting a sore throat to have an excuse to drink a dropper of the stuff. Hot lemon juice with honey ain't bad either. |
| Biggles | posted 2-Jun-2002 7:11am Sunburn (or any burns) can be treated with Aloe Vera - either a bought cream or the pulp taken straight from the plant. It should be rubbed into the affected skin and left. Of course, prevention is better than cure - it's better to use a really good sunblock, at least factor 20 and a lot higher (at least 30) if you're fair. To be safe, use factor 60. And if you're sunburned badly enough to get large fluid filled blisters you should go to the hospital. When we went on a Biology field-trip to the sea with school it was a baking hot day and we were really exposed out on the shore. One girl ended up burned so badly she had to be taken to hospital the next day with shoulders covered in large yellow blisters. And I collapsed the next day in school with sunstroke. Snoring I don't know much about. Don't sleep on your back! Sore throat - gargle with honey dissolved in warm (not hot) water. Add a squeeze of lemon for flavour if you need it. Honey is a natural antiseptic. You can also spread it on wounds that risk becoming infected Toothache - apply warmth to the outside of the face where it hurts. See a dentist. Pimples - normal spots are supposed to be well treated by smearing toothpaste on them over night - that draws the pus out. Boils should be treated by applying heat (cotton wool soaked in warm water does the trick) once every hour to break down the pus and draw it out. Wash with warm soapy water at least twice a day. Shower rather than bath to avoid the boils from spreading. If you have carbuncles (several boils joined together) you can treat them in the same way but you should really see a doctor as they can be a sign of an underlying condition such as diabetes. |
| Biggles | posted 2-Jun-2002 7:16am BTW, for everyone who advises sorting out your diet, drinking lots of water and washing your face for sorting out spots, it doesn't always work!!! I've had spots since I was about 10 and I still have some now I'm 18. I'm hoping I just grow out of them, preferably *soon*! Washing actually makes mine worse because I have very sensitive skin and washing (even with just water) irritates it. Mine are mostly hormone and stress dependent. |

| Enheduanna | (reply to ASexyBabe) posted 2-Jun-2002 10:22am I've only ever used white, minty toothpaste. I've never used the gel-type. I put it on at night and sleep with it on. I find it works best for pimples that have a head already, or have partly popped. It's less effective for ones that are still completely under the skin. |

| confetti | posted 2-Jun-2002 4:00pm Sunburn: I've got it bad right now. I was out between 10 AM and 2 PM yesterday with nothing but Coca-Cola on my poor self. Take a cold shower immediately and slather your quasi-damp skin with aloe vera. Straight from the damn plant is best, but cream or lotion that has it listed as its main ingredient is acceptable too. Repeat this frequently, cold shower and all. Also, if you have a bathtub (we live in the tropics, so we don't) you should soak in cold milk if you can. Snoring: sleep facing down, drink hot water with peppermint steeped in. Sore Throat: honey. Straight up. Toothache: go to a dentist. Hangnail: cream and wrap it. Pimples: tape a tiny slice of lemon to it and leave it on overnight. Or a teabag. |

| wolfchik9 | posted 23-Jun-2002 6:04pm Sunburn - Buy some of that green aloe vera gel. It feels really good and does not stain your clothing. Snoring - Sleep on your side. Try a product called "Snorenz" if necessary. You spray it in the back of your throat, hold it there for about 30 seconds, then swallow. It works wonders. Sore throat - I wish I knew. I swear by Halls mentholyptus cough drops. Toothache - Any kind of oral analgesic, such as OraGel, works for me. Hangnail - Moisturize hands, then clip off the extra skin. Never pull it off. Pimples - Use toothpaste or hemmorhoid ointment overnight to dry out the pimple, peroxide to get rid of redness. If you must pop it, use a small, sterile, flat-edged item, such as a pin or safety pin, to press against the side of the pimple. Do not use your nails or fingers or it can cause open wounds or bruises. |

Use a fresh cut leaf of Aloe. Cut the leaf down the middle & rub the slimy stuff on the sunburn.
I roll my husband over when he snores Or I just wake him up.
