Okay I made this survey because I'm reading 'Lord of the Rings' as I figured I should. I'll let you know what I think in a couple of weeks.
But so far I can't get over the frustration of knowing that whilst everyone goes on about LOTR they are sorely disadvantaged at having never read 'The Belgariad' series by David Eddings starting with book one - 'Pawn of Prophecy'.
I shall stick with this LotR thing as the Eddings book didn't get hot until halfway through. |

I don't feel this way about things. I think 'living' (in the sense used in the question) is different for different people. Some people live when they experience night life, club hopping and such, which does nothing for me. Some people's idea of living is to have the house in the country with the white picket fence. Some people live extreme: rock climbing, sky diving, things like that.
Getting closer to a real answer to the question, I think people aren't living or are disadvantaged if they can't do what *they* really want to do in life. (They aren't living the life they want) |

I honestly don't think that any of these types of experiences are essential to experience life properly. |

Well, maybe tasted various kinds of ethnic foods, like Japanese and Chinese, and certain restaurants that have blown me away -- since I am such a "foodie." Too bad I can't afford to go out to eat at these places as much as I'd like to. Also, various types of higher-priced wines... I was meant to be rich; regretfully that's not reality.... |

I'll pick one from eacxh. Read the Harry Potter books. Watched the movie Beauty and the Beast. Watched several episodes of the TV show Ed. Tasted really really good chicken wings that are so hot it almost hurts. Visited New York city in every season. Met someone you really love, and met someone you really look up to. (Okay, I picked two for this one, sorry.) Experienced love. |

Well, you never know--after all, you were adopted. Maybe we were separated at birth! And then I was cryogenically frozen and reborn 9 years later. And one or the other of us was genetically modified in some top secret government experiment, and given radical reconstructive surgery along the way. The truth is out there! |

Enheduanna | | (reply to mandy) posted 31-May-2002 2:20pm |
I think maybe that was a result of genetic modification. At least now we know romkey was the one who was modified! Or maybe it was modified out of me! |

a bolt of lightning hitting a tree 20 feet from where you are standing. I haven't found anything that even comes close to the extreme rush that it caused. (Even the tornado that went through my back yard didn't). It really makes you appreciate life all the more. |
