| Enheduanna | posted 21-Apr-2002 11:48am I have no problem with it, and I think lots of men look good in skirts. I think it should be more generally acceptable than it is. Maybe kilts will make a big comeback. |
| Biggles | posted 21-Apr-2002 1:01pm They should be able to wear skirts if they want - and I'm not talking about kilts. Depends on the guy though - some men look a lot better in skirts than others. Tighter skirts tend to look a lot better than baggy ones - they do seem to suit (younger) men's bodies quite well. But I think the skirts do have to be the right length - very long or very short and they look like drag queens. Sheesh, look at me sounding like an expert! |
| romkey | posted 21-Apr-2002 1:40pm I'm completely neutral. They certainly should be able to if they want. Some men look good in skirts... some certainly don't. The same's true for women as well. |
| mandy | posted 21-Apr-2002 2:00pm Skirts and kilts make me hot. |
| confetti | posted 21-Apr-2002 2:19pm I don't personally give a damn. Yet I would NEVER be attracted to a man if he were wearing anything but man clothes. Sorry. It's gross. |
| cuteasabutton | posted 21-Apr-2002 2:25pm This is such a silly question. |
| Amanda | posted 21-Apr-2002 3:01pm I don't care if men wear skirts or not. I don't think I could date a man that wore a skirt, though. As long as Dominic (my fiance) doesn't start wearing a skirt, I don't care what other men do. |

| spidertea | posted 21-Apr-2002 5:09pm I don't care. |
| nightvid | posted 21-Apr-2002 5:46pm Why not? |
| kaleb777 | posted 21-Apr-2002 5:57pm Males should wear skirts as part of culture or around the house. Wearing a miniskirt is not part of culture. Kilts are OK, Lava lavas are fine for everyone around the pool or house. In Fiji and other Pacific Islands, the men wear 'skirts' (lava lava, sarong etc)- even the cops do. |
| Galomorro | posted 21-Apr-2002 7:02pm Who cares if they wear skirts! I personally don't find it attractive, as opposed to, say, jeans and a T-shirt, but if they want to, who am I to say they should not... I don't think, however, this is gonna catch on in a big way... |
| dora | posted 21-Apr-2002 7:38pm I (and I'm talking about real skirts, not kilt and stuff) think that if for a woman is acceptable to wear pants it must be accepted to wear a skirt or a dress for a man. But the thought of a man in a skirt gave me goosebumps and not in a good way.If it's for fun okay, but I'd like 'em better dressed as men. What I think is right and what I feel is right are different on this subject. |
| dora | posted 21-Apr-2002 7:40pm Give me,not gave me.as it was in the past it is now.I like man with make-up on tough.Maybe it's because I like punk and stuff.Mascara, lip gloss... |
| cody | posted 21-Apr-2002 8:07pm Depends on how it looks. There are cases that would make me feel uncomfortable around the person and cases that wouldn't. It's up to a particular employer whether he believes a particular style of skirt is acceptable. Though, personally, I do think there are many male 'dress-like' clothes that should be more accepted in modern society. It's a nice look we haven't seen for a while. But he have to be a HELL of a man to wear a robe right... you need to have sweep in your step and extreme confidence. It's a powerful look. The long trenchcoats we see sometimes are kind of a progression in that direction. It won't happen though, I don't imagine. Not for some time anyways. The majority of the population is too wrapped up in their idiocy and personal prejudices to notice the strength of the look. |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 21-Apr-2002 8:19pm Whatever floats your boat! |
| mimind | posted 21-Apr-2002 11:10pm i dont get these surveys. unless youre a crossdresser or an irishman why would a man wear one? |
| jettles | posted 21-Apr-2002 11:20pm this has been done a ton of times before!!! |
| mandy | (reply to mimind) posted 21-Apr-2002 11:30pm A lot of straight goth guys like to wear skirts. |
| JoeSchmoe2003 | (reply to mimind) posted 21-Apr-2002 11:35pm I'm a straight American and I wear skirts. |
| JoeSchmoe2003 | posted 21-Apr-2002 11:37pm This is stupid. I say to all the people who say they would never date a man wearing a skirt, then how would you like it if a man said that he would never date you if you were wearing pants? |
| Strider | posted 22-Apr-2002 12:48am don't care. |
| freebird_old | posted 22-Apr-2002 1:24am I think you should be able to wear whatever you want no matter your gender. However, some guys can pull it off, and others should stick to pants. |
| Cain | posted 22-Apr-2002 4:17am Each to their own. |
| Dino | posted 22-Apr-2002 7:33am They should be allowed to wear skirts. Ironically the only people who look real good in a skirt are masculine guys. |
| Dino | posted 22-Apr-2002 7:36am |
| justjulie | posted 22-Apr-2002 8:04am men can wear whatever they want mine really needs a pair of brown leather pants, jim morrison style....yum |
| grmbrand | posted 22-Apr-2002 9:51am If a man wants to wear a skirt, I say, "go for it". However, I think it would be unreasonable (at first, certainly) for skirt-clad men to get uppity with people who give them surprised looks. |
| moonstone | posted 22-Apr-2002 11:01am I could care less if a man wears a skirt or not. As long as it's not my husband...I don't care. |
| Biggles | (reply to Dino) posted 22-Apr-2002 12:11pm I know a really camp gay guy who looks amazing in a skirt! |
| Gamera | posted 22-Apr-2002 6:31pm My opinion on men wearing skirts is that it's a non-issue not really interesting enough to warrant two surveys in just under a year. |
| natsim | posted 22-Apr-2002 8:28pm There ARE specially designed skirts for males. In Scotland it's perfectly acceptable for men to wear kilts and in Fiji men wear business-like sulus. I think men look great in skirts. |
| Dino | (reply to Biggles) posted 23-Apr-2002 4:11am Do you ever remember the adverts for 'Hooch' and the hard knock guy in a flowery summer dress. There is something 'easy-access' about skirts. Probably why - if an evil fairy turned me into a woman for 24 hours - I would NEVER wear a skirt. I don't get how girls can do that. (But then I suspect you agree with me on this one). |
| Enheduanna | (reply to Dino) posted 23-Apr-2002 9:02am My boyfriend's housemate has a Utilikilt. My boyfriend always makes fun of him for wearing a skirt when he wears it! |
| romkey | (reply to Enheduanna) posted 23-Apr-2002 11:17am your boyfriend makes fun of his housemate when he's not wearing a Utilikilt too! |
| Enheduanna | (reply to romkey) posted 23-Apr-2002 12:13pm This is true! |
| Biggles | (reply to Dino) posted 23-Apr-2002 3:01pm Easy access?! Sorry, just struck me as funny.... I don't wear skirts - haven't since I was a small girl. But I was always a bit of a tomboy |
| Cleo | posted 23-Apr-2002 10:32pm Wearing pants (for men) all the time can become boring at times......huh??? Pants, pants, pants.BORING!!!!!!! Women have many different types of fashion clothing. We Rule!!!!! Dresses, skirts & blouse, pants suits,t-shirts & jeans, evening gowns ect. We Rule!!! |
| ASexyBabesToy | posted 25-Apr-2002 2:48pm It's fine as long as they are wearing panties. You would feel like a slut wearing a skirt without panties. |
| ASexyBabesToy | (reply to mandy) posted 25-Apr-2002 2:49pm Want to hang out under my skirt hot stuff? |
| mandy | (reply to ASexyBabesToy) posted 25-Apr-2002 6:17pm YES!!!!!!!! *wiggles her toes* |

| Biggles | (reply to Irene007) posted 27-Apr-2002 12:08pm Turbans can look really good on the right guy too........ |
| Irene007 | (reply to Biggles) posted 28-Apr-2002 9:30am As long as it doesn't come with a matching, obligatory beard! |

| natsim | (reply to harekrishnadasa) posted 3-May-2002 12:01am Yes, a kilt is a skirt. |

| Frostbrand | posted 24-May-2002 6:50pm Hmm. No option for 'Who gives a fudge?' |
| JohnCD | posted 7-Jul-2008 12:14am There is absolutely nothing wrong with men wearing skirts. Women wear everything men wear so us men should, and do, have the same rights as women. I'm a 40 year old heterosexual man and have been wearing skirts/dresses with pantyhose and heels regularly since I was a young child. There's nothing wrong with this; it's just clothes and not hurting anyone or anything. Very few people, if any, think there's anything wrong with women wearing everything men wear. If men shouldn't be allowed to wear skirts and dresses, then women shouldn't be allowed to wear pants. |
| skirtsnhose | posted 12-Jul-2008 5:10am As a straight married male, I absolutely love wearing short skirts with pantyhose and high heels. If I could dress like that at work, I'd never wear another pair of pants again! |
| LisaBR | posted 25-Aug-2009 8:36am I'm completely against males wearing skirts or dresses and am also against females wearing pants or slacks of any kind! |
| LindaH | (reply to LisaBR) posted 28-Aug-2009 12:08pm Even during gym? Kind of hard to do high jumps and gymnastics in a skirt. |
| LisaBR | (reply to LindaH) posted 31-Aug-2009 5:31am Obviously not during gym, where wearing shorts is the norm, although at the private school I attended, we were required to wear culottes during gym class. |
| LindaH | (reply to LisaBR) posted 31-Aug-2009 11:27am I like culottes. They wear them in dance class too, especially because the dresses float when they spin. |
| LisaBR | (reply to LindaH) posted 31-Aug-2009 7:39pm I'm glad we agree on something. I like them too, they allow you to be active yet retain a sense of modesty, plus they're still feminine. |
| LindaH | (reply to LisaBR) posted 31-Aug-2009 8:43pm I think pants can be feminine. They design them that way now. I really don't see what's so bad about them. |
| LisaBR | (reply to LindaH) posted 12-Sep-2009 10:45am Some pants can be, perhaps. After all, Katherine Hepburn wore pants in the 1940's when almost no women wore them and she was very feminine. However, not all women are Katherine Hepburn. It's also no longer the 1940's when women had class and a true sense of glamour and style. As for me, I just feel more comfortable wearing skirts and dresses. I haven't worn pants at all for years and see no reason to start wearing them again. |
| LindaH | (reply to LisaBR) posted 13-Sep-2009 5:52pm I love the fact that things are getting more casual, and people can let their hair down and be themselves. I love the relaxed atmosphere of casual dress and behavior. I'm a future-fashioned individualist. Individualism is more natural and comfortable. |
