I have a purse size calendar and an address book, plus desk calendar, and wall calendars. I just typed all my friends and relatives e-mail addresses, yahoo messenger names, and so on on Yahoo Notepad.

I'm naturally well organized, but do make notes on the calendar and keep a running shopping list on which I add things as they run out or get low (but I will admit that sometimes I go to the store and forget to take the list with me-fortunately I have a good memory and can generally remember what was on the list). Being disorganized really bothers me. It gets my goat when I'm on the bus and it pulls up to a bus stop to load a passenger. The passenger will get on and start digging out the fare or his/her bus pass which delays the bus driver. That's one of the reasons the buses are late the majority of the time. I'm not talking about the person who is running for the bus stop, but the person who was already there and had plenty of opportunity to have the bus fare ready when he/she boarded. It happened the other day. This woman got on the bus and started to dig through her pockets and backpack looking for her bus pass. She did this for quite a few minutes until the driver told her to sit down and look for it as he was now behind schedule. This was in Springfield and when I deboarded in Eugene she STILL hadn't found her bus pass! I wondered if she even had one at that point or had left it at home. People that are so disorganized that they impact on other people drive me NUTS!

I have a homework diary/organiser/planner for school but mostly I just remember. I usually know what homework I have to do. And that's pretty much my life right now *frown*

I've also got my revision (I have 21 A-level exams in a few weeks) planned out in my homework diary. It's all work and revision *frown*

(Can you tell who spent her day so far doing Chemistry exam papers? *wink* )

I have a beautiful Harley Davidson Calendar for 2002 that I use to plan my monthly activities and all the child picking up and dropping off, the child's schedule with her Dad, appointments and my work schedule.
We have a dry erase board in the kitchen where the family members leave each other notes, write quick reminders etc.
I follow all this up with a running list in my wallet or tucked in the checkbook of what I have to do each day from "go to the bank" to "pick up some milk".

I have saved calendars every year since 1984. It is weird to go back and see what I did each day years and years ago.

I loved the episode of ABFAB where Edina tries to get organized by punching everything into a PDA that tells her when to drink(rehydrate), shower, exercise and dress with this funny little chime, thinking it will "change her life". *laughing out loud* She ends up throwing it away I think and flying to New York to look at a doorhandle.

For my personal stuff, I have a small phone book, and I use a calendar for social engagements. When I'm working (at a job that requires such things) I often have a series of to do lists. Things to do today, things to do this month, and long range plans. If I have a good day and get everything done or a slow day, I move to the next list. Sometimes things get backed up and have to be moved to the lower priority list. When I had a job with an office, I was really organised. A place for everything and everything in place. I always cleared my desk before leaving at the end of the day. I kept records of everything because I knew that some day someone else would replace me and they would appreciate having all the information at their fingertips.

We write family notes on a dry erase board, and I keep most of my personal stuff on a wall calendar. I don't think that's in the same category as a Day-Runner because I don't carry it with me. I also use Post-it notes or a note pad for some things.

I hate that, too! The same thing happens in checkout lines at stores. People will be waiting their turn, just standing there staring at the person ahead of them. Then when it's their turn they wait until the cashier gives them their total to start digging for their wallet or (worse yet) checkbook! I usually pay by check, and unless my hands are full I always have the check all made out ahead of time except for the amount, which I can quickly fill in, so I know it CAN be done. I think I'm faster paying with a check than most people are at paying with cash. Everyone's in a hurry while they're waiting, but many think nothing of keeping other people waiting. *wry smile*

I hate the grocery store thing as well. The other thing I hate about grocery stores, especially when they are crowded is people standing one facing one direction, one the other, holding onto their carts and having an involved conversation when you are try to get to something in that aisle. To make matters worse, they are usually standing right in front of what you are wanting off the shelf! If my son is with me when I shop, he won't be as patient as I am. He will ask them to move in a very loud, carrying voice. The other thing that bothers me a lot is people who don't control their kids in the store, allowing them to run willy-nilly to the point that you've come close to hitting one of them. I go to Winco a lot (it's one of those stores where you bag your own groceries) and the little rugrats are always getting in the way when I'm trying to hurry up and bag my stuff so I can be out of the way for the next person in line. The parents stand there bagging their stuff and yakking with the cashier and each other and totally ignore their kids. I've seen small children walk right out of the exit (which is right opposite the check-out counters) into the busy parking lot and the parents are oblivious to what's happening! *frown*

C.R. high school girls have a few staples: a pastel JanSport backpack, an array of glittering belts, blue lycra jeans, wintergreen sugarless gum, skin firming lotion and silver rings, but you can never forget the chunky "agenda". Half a page for every day, write up which crappy local concert you went to (paste some tix), go a little crazy with stickers, maybe doodle a bit...and I guess that's how we keep organized.

I have a school agenda book that is like my bible, and an address book for phone numbers. There is also a big calender on my fridge so that me and my mom know what's going on.

In addition to the tools you mentioned, a giant wall calendar which we can hardly update often enough. Even with tools, drowning in the flow of information some days.

Post it notes are a god send for me. I also have a calendar that I write stuff on but it does no good because I rarely look at it. When I was living with roomates we had a cork board/dry erase board which worked wonders for messages and what not. I'm pretty good at remembering things and part of the time my friends and SO work as reminders. Usually if I tell them things i've got planned for the week they remind me.

My computer and desk at work is a flurry of yellow post-it notes. I bought a day-to-page diary recently to try and organise myself a bit better. It lasted a week but it really was too much fuss. Now I rely on post-it notes.

It's a PDA and Post-It notes for me. I guess I should also have mentioned software (Outlook, Lotus Notes, etc.) as an option, 'cause I use that, too.

Poorly. I put events into my palm-pilot, when I remember to do that, and sometimes even remember to look at it and see what I'm supposed to do. If I haven't lost the little scrap of paper with the phone number before I put it into my pilot, that's great, but sometimes I think I put it in my pilot and really I put it in my cell phone which I forgot to bring with me..... but somehow I get by just fine.

I stay organised by not using anything. I have a theory that if I have so much to do that I can't keep track with my own brain it means I'm trying to do too much. I just make little lists every now and then.
