I like to trick people who assume too much. Do stuff that makes them reconfirm their suspicions or assumptions, and then let them know the truth. Then they feel like a total fool. I do that in the hopes that they will learn from it, and not be so presumptive in the future.

I have my hobbies in my profile say Avincela, then you read avincela's profile and it has single not looking on it. My away message says vinnie email me and I'll turn IMs on. xoxoxox This way, Nosey Korie can go flap to everyone that there really is proof I'm cheating, as they all suspected. roflol I'm so sick of the people who jump to conclusions. I have I've said a lot worse too. People are too nice. If people told stupid people what they were doing is stupid more often there might be less stupid people around. I remeber reading that most people in high positions, when given IQ tests, come in on average dumber than their subordinates. The thing is, they're too dumb to know it and are running on self confidence alone.

I really don't think they can. I mean it's usually the subordinates that fix things after they go wrong.

When you say people being stupid/idiotic but thinking they are expressing individuality, I think of younger people who talk in rude slang, wear strange clothes, and have a chip on their shoulder about it. I can't imagine anyone over 24 doing that.

Sure, I can see that, but on the same token, a steel worker might fix things that go wrong in building a skyscraper, but may not be qualified to be in charge of the project.

True, but on such a large project, there would be many consultants from all levels advising the person in charge of the project. On a smaller scale, like in an office situation, many people in charge have no experience on the floor and got their position with a degree paid for by mum and dad at a university where academic entry is not as important as the fees and donations made by parents. Take Al Gore's university history for instance.

I'm not about to suggest that everyone - nor even most people - in positions of authority have the skills and abilities, nor necessarily even the "right" to that authority. I was merely trying to suggest that perhaps people with lower IQ scores, or less skill in particular areas, might still have more skill or ability in the fine art of project or personnel management. They might not, too. I just don't believe the two are as closely linked as your original comment seemed to imply.

Are you saying that intelligence and the ability to manage people well don't go hand in hand?

I'm saying that intelligence, particularly as measured by standardized tests, may be one part of a combination of crucial traits which may also include, for instance, intuition, creativity, courage, and ingenuity- just to name a few obvious ones- and that a person who scores higher- even quite markedly higher - on a standardized intelligence test may still lack many of the *other* necessary skills to manage well. They may be quite good specialists, perhaps even the best, and it might *also* be that their superior intelligence may be insufficient for the task of management, leaving that task for someone with a better balance of the necessary traits. This is not some radical new quack theory, of course. This concept of the balanced work force- dividing various types of skills into various types of roles is about as old as social structures themselves.

People criticize standardize intelligence tests, but people who perform poorly on these testes are usually thick as pig crap. Courage with no intelligence is a good way to get killed, or make a stupid decision. In my personal experience, too many people with *other* skills are promoted. It's usually those who can suck ass the best but are stupid enough not to be a threat to upper management that are promoted. As long as other managers protect each other when they screw up they can get away with enormous screw ups while still keeping their positions.
