Give your assessment of how many stars you believe to be in the universe - and explain how you arrived at your estimate.

Scientists can only conjecture (and they have). Some educated guesses are provided as options, or you can give your own estimate, but explain your reasoning.

I have no estimate right now. Let me talk to my theoretical-physics-loving friends and I'll get back to you! * smile *

I assume gazillion is the largest in that list. If so then its that. How I estimated it. I dunno just watching documentaries and realising how insignificant we are compared to the universe.

*exactly* a gazillion. if you look at the sky, it's pretty obvious.

Audrie and Lemkil, who felt out of sorts, preferred to stay on Suril Slopes whilst the others went down to the valley. In Cider Oaks the children had stayed up later than usual, so it was well past dusk as the friends were side-by-side looking up at the stars from the meadow where they lay.
'So many!' the girl said. 'When we left Sparklen mists had settled already, and on scarce chance could we see one; but Cider Oaks is untouched.'
'It has always been.' And he made up a song, for no one had heard it before. But Audrie felt sleepy already, and only recalled the last bit.

why couldnt the survey creator just use scientific notations, instead of words like "quintillion, guadillion, zillion, infinity, infinity times ten"

I'm not that scientific, I guess, southernyankee. That's why I put in under the category "opinion". I hope this little survey of mine didn't offend you much. (???)

Actually there are only 90210 stars.
The rest are mis-information provided to the public by the CIA for some devious reason.
All the documentaries are made in studios in Hollywood who are under the CIA payroll.
I mean whatever happened to Macauley Culkin? Word on the street is that he was gonna blow their cover and POW! - missing!

No, but it wasn't a very good survey. Just what the hell is "gallzilion" and "bizillion" and "quadillion" or whatever it may be. It sounds like a 5 year old created this survey. Better yet, something that a five year old would argue. You might as well had an option for "infinity" or "infinity + 1" lol

I probably should have explained my reasoning like the question said, but I figured that since there are approximately 100 billion stars in our own galaxy (although I've seen estimate up to 400 billion) and approximately 100 billion galaxies in the universe, it follows that the approximate number of stars in the universe is approximately 100 billion squared. The problem is whether or not our own galaxy is of an average size, in which case it could be higher.

Well, this is my first survey, and I guess my last. This site isn't what I expected it would be. Too many rude JERKS who have diarrhea spilling from their pie-holes for no reason.
Thanks, jerk.

Hey, at least i am not part of the spelling police. Just wait till you encounter those butt-holes. They make me look like a polite nurse at a retirement home.

You should be thankfull for the scientificly technicality inclined butt-holes such as myself. We are the layer right before the Grammer butt-holes.
