What will you choose for Heaven to be like?

You've just died and are standing in front of God. He tells you that despite all of your mistakes and sins, He has decided to let you into heaven. (This will come as a particular shock to you if you were an atheist when alive!)

He goes on to say that Heaven is whatever you want it be. You can choose the scenery, the people that are there (if any), what activities you can do, etc. In other words, it's all your choice.

The only problem is that you only have a few minutes to think about it. Then you have to tell Him what you want and live with your choices for eternity (including those that may have backfired).

Now God's waiting for you to answer. What are you going to ask for?

This survey is similar to http://surveycentral.org/survey/9594.html

VotesAnswer
17I'm going to ask God to make heaven like this:
17I'm going to ask God to choose for me.
9I have something to say that isn't covered by the other options:
5I'm going to do or say something else.
4I'm going to laugh in God's face and tell Him that He doesn't really exist! (Could be risky......)
4I'm not going to answer.
2I'm going to request an immediate transfer to Hell.

As with all wishes - one should simply say 'Whatever is best!'. Alternatively if she got mad and insisted on a choice with the assurity that it would be for the best then I would choose a serene buddhist temple.

ever changing - i will choose every moment and when i am tired of choosing, it will continue on being chosen by default, and i will leave an opt out, in case i ever get tired, it can go away or i can go away

I want heaven to be Middle-earth! (Or "Blue" if M.e. isn't available). And I want to live there for eternity with all the characters and all the other Tolkienites who go there too * smile *

A 24 hour all you can eat restaurant/karaoke bar with all male waiters, chefs and buspeople, buff and glistening, naked from the waist up. All the patrons are wonderful bawdy females or delightful gay men, eating drinking and laughing, pinching the waiters bums and thoroughly enjoying themselves. There's a big backroom full of comfy beds and sofas and chairs for orgies and such.

Well, I don't believe in heaven, but it's a nice thought. I'd like it if there were lots of animals and lots of friendly people. You know- full of love and stuff? And lots of Italian food.

Rustic, pastoral...a natural setting. Nothing bad...lots of happy people enjoying themselves in a wholesome kind of way...

That's just for me of course. I believe that everyone winds up in a place or situation which is very much like what they expect. If you think that you have been a bad person...well, that might not be so pleasant...

A friend recently posed me this question which was my inspiration for this survey * smile *

I told him something along these lines.....

I'd want to be somewhere that there were plenty of things left to do. Scientific discoveries that I could make using basic lab equipment. Mountains to climb that had never been climbed before. Places that had never been explored and that no maps existed for. I'd like there to be old ruined castles and forts where I could organise arachaeological digs and be able to put all my finds into my own museum.

I'd have to have access to books - factual, fictional, poetry, prose.....and the internet (and SC!) and a television with a vcr so that I could watch Babylon 5 and my other favourite shows * smile *

But most importantly, there would have to be people. I couldn't be happy without friends. people that I could love and that would love me.

Unfortunately, I think that there are lots of loopholes in what I've just written. I could end up with a rather scary Heaven!

I wonder if the people that were there with me would be real. Surely everyone would want their own reality for Heaven so there would be no-one but me in mine. But part of mine would have to be the people........it's complicated!

You see you got me thinking about this yesterday. How real would it all be. Would it be like the Matrix or something. And also is this the basis of Buddhist philosophy when they say that 'Life is an Illlusion'.
So say you were traditional and you asked to be with your family. And God said 'There you go love - through that door there' and you walked through it and there they were. How real is that gonna be?
You really got my head spinning.

*shouts* Hey Kristal any thoughts!

no wait, never mind, become a good looking women surrounded by guys. since women get to have multiple orgasms and stuff. or ask god that i'd be androdegous, and be surrounded by both, and just pick out people like from a menu. oh yeah, all the people that i knew would be there too. they can have some too. oh yeah, and everyone will more of less like the same type of music that i listen to and think very similar to me. but not exactly like me, that way it wouldn't be boring.

oh, i that i have internet access so i can still be logged on to survey central.

I will sit him down and have a philosophical debate. He's all powerful, all knowing, all seeing. He has all the time he needs, as time is meaningless. I'll tell him to make Heaven me and him talking until I convince him to let me transcend to a state of nondual Oneness with the entirety of the Kosmos. That and, I really want to know what motivates someone who is all powerful, all knowing, all seeing, all present, etc, etc. If he was bored (which is a human motivation, with it's base in human faults), he would have excitement in unlimited quantities, just like that. And are we arrogant enough to say that someone that powerful would want to emulate the "love" that can be generated by a clump of neurons? And even if it was out of love, he'd already know that everything was going to happen as it would, and that knowledge would be enough. The only thing I can think of to motivate an all powerful being is the challenge of destroying himself. But I digress.

Ok then, i am going to start eating junk food stuffed into a microwave, and staring at my computer screen absorbing radiation, just so i get to the Pearly Gates a lot quicker.

Not wait, that will make me look really fat, and i won't be as good to you anymore then. But then again, i am sure that "god" will make everyone look a lot different than they were in thier human form. Of cousre then people could just ask for a sex change if they wanted too. That could be arrenged, also. Oh never mind then. But i could then become one of your bawdy buddies.

Owwh, pizza's ready!!! love to talk more, but goto go.

Heaven is a place on earth for me. (didn't mean to quote an 80's pop song) I guess I'd just wan't to live another life -- but a better one, the thought of doing and being in the same "happy" place for eternity is depressing. I don't really believe in heaven any ways, but I took part in the survey * smile *

And I'd probably meet confetti there to! * smile * Oh yes and Gullom would be my pet * wink * , and I would have homes in: The Shire, Rivendell, Minas Tirith, The Forest of Fangorn, (where Treebeard would be able to take me places very quikly!) Rohan, and Isengard. That would be wonderful!! * yes * * smile *

I think I'd ask god to send me back. As much as paradise sounds great, I'm not so sure I could live without those I love. I also have a problem with the concept of equal love. I don't want to love someone I barely know as much as I loved my mother or husband. I think I'd want another chance at the same life. I'd want to be genuinely happy. Not to mention, you can't have good without bad. It's one of those unwritten laws. I'm not saying that I'm a masochist, but we need the bad days to make the good ones look better. I like real life...(sort've).

My God's not male, but leaving that to one side:
My Heaven would be a peaceful earth. Everything just like earth, in terms of natural beauty and people, but no war, no greed, no racism.... I would let God choose, but since God is omniscient, it would be what I would be most happy with anyway.

I think I wouldn't know what to "ask" for if I was really standing before "god". I mean eyes have not seen nor has entered into the hearts of man what "god" has in store for those who love "him". But for fun... I will be grateful for the abolishment of time. I'm rooting for the abolishment of space too (meaning matter).
