Have you ever collected Trading Cards?

There are many different types of trading cards, but they normally consist of several cards of the same style, which make up a set.

Yes. I used to collect baseball cards when I was younger. I have 2 older brothers and I was some what of a tomboy growing up. I gave them all to my fiance's son about a year ago. They were just collecting dust on a shelf.

I also collected pogs when they were a big thing. I had a couple hundred thousand of them. But, I don't know if you would consider those a trading card or not????

Yeah when I was a kid I collected Peanuts trading cards. Also for a couple of weeks I started collecting 'Love Is..' cards by Kim (you may not know what they are) but someone picked on me in school for being too girly and I stopped * frown *

It would be cool if trading cards were made on many more different subjects than just mainly sports: Facts, color pix 'n info on categories of subjects such as various music artists, tropical plants, artists' works, collectibles of various types, furniture styles -- almost anything that people collect or have an interest in, where there are a lot of different things to collect.

No. I have a few Buffy cards that I got as stocking stuffers, but I've never actively done anything with them.

When I was about ten, it was pretty much mandatory for boys to collect hockey cards. I didn't have much enthusiasm for it. I think I lost them all gambling (which seemed to be their primary purpose).

You just reminded me. Back in the 60s there were cards for the TV version of Batman. I had forgotten all about them. On one side, there was part of a larger picture which you could assemble like a jigsaw puzzle if you managed to collect all the bits.

Yes, I once was into Magic the Gathering. But eventually, the new series came out with inflated stats like every onther creature was a 12/8, which made all old cards pretty much useless, and I got pissed, and my interest eventually faded away. * frown * > * frown *

That diversity is available with viewmaster reels. You can collect architecture, museums, transportation, toys, tv shows, biology, space, theater, etc.

There's an entire section for viewmasters at eBay. I spend an average of $1.20 per reel. I have a ton of viewers that come with the larger auctions. The cases with viewer usually containing 50-100 reels of travel geography, and tending to have an additional theme like westerns of the 50's , Canada, pageants go for about $40-100. Scientific collections show up with 10 mushroom spotting guide reels or dissections of the brain (sometimes for several hundred $$). One of the most expensive reels I want is the Addams Family (3 reels w/booklet) which goes for about $60 usually (I guess everyone else has good taste too.) I know a couple artists who's medium is viewmaster photography.
