If someone threw an amazing surprise birthday party in your honor, but your birthday was months away, would you tell them?

Does a major blunder from a kind act prompt brutal honesty? Honesty that may embarrass the do-gooder?

Deep, thought provoking survey Dubbl! I can totally see where you have the right, no, the responsibility to berate other survey creators for their useless and inane surveys. You have proven yourself the cream of the crop of survey creators. This survey goes beyond asking a difficult and mind boggling question. This survey indeed inspires all of us to pause and ask ourselves, "What would I do?Dear Dear God, what would I do if faced with such a difficult life altering dilemma?"

BRAVO!

I would probably tell the person privately. I wouldn't want to embarrass them in front of everybody. But, I would, of course, thank them for the thought and go on and enjoy my non-birthday party.

I would probably just politely and casually ask, "so why did you decide to throw this party early?". Because, you never know what peoples intentions are, maybe this person is going to leave the country around the time of your real birthday, and they just really wanted to celebrate with you....I really don't know, I've never had a surprise birthday party, so I would probably be too excited to care if it was early!

When you do certain drugs your serotonin levels shoot up. People who come off drugs get depressed because the reward centres of their brains fail to give the same feeling of elation when good or exiting things happen.

well, depending on what you're doing... I've found that I've often gotten insights from the experiences that helped me work things out and make my life better and me happier. I didn't realize yesterday when I posted the above comments that this was an older survey. I thought it was just another one people were answering to these days, which - given who the creator was - confused the heck out of me. I've seen and been told the havoc this character created at one time, and it seems he was using my name to do it. (Well, only part of my AOL screen name, and my password, and my IP address, and my identification)...it's a real long story, one that's better left ended.
The end.

How weird!!! I was back in this survey AGAIN out of shear boredom & what do I find?? A reply from you BUT not addressed to me. But I kinda knew it was for me after reading the whole string on this survey.

Sooooooooooo many of them come & go from here. But then again sometimes I think it's the same (few) jerks that keep coming back to SC,but under another handle. Gotta be careful, sometimes you might be talking with the same person, that may have ticked you off in a previous survey day, weeks even months before.SOme of the regulars know the abusive ones right off.Sometimes it could be their use of certain words or the forming of the sentences. It could be the directness of their attitude....... Me???? I can't tell yet.

I'm still quite new here.Been here since February 2001.
Speaking of which, how long have YOU been at this site?? I've seen your name here from time to time but was feeling too shy to ask. * frown * Where do you live? I live in Murrieta California with my husband of 30 years & 2 (dang) teenagers.> * frown * & 2 lovely cats. * smile *

Congratulations on your 30 years success, you inter-include that bit of info with obvious pride, as you should.
Dubbl-yuck. I'm not sure about it, but I think "he" said he was a he - even a gay one. I've been hacked for months since I got my new computer. Someone's been using my AOL screen name, DubblZero@aol.com. This person has done a million different things to MY accounts (including creating some all over the place), like subscribing magazines to be delivered to my address, impersonating me all over the place - I'm a gay male myself. I think it was that same person who even called the phone company (twice!) and changed my calling plan with SBC! Both times they instated the ability to call 900- and 976 numbers, then (the first time) rang up over $1,000 in just a month's time visiting "976- websites".
He (or she, I do still receive credit card "approvals" for a "Kacey" under DubblZero) has reeked havoc in a number of ways for me. Here, since I started coming to SC because of an email I received - just as this Dubbl was pissing everyone off (then disappeared) - some of the members still believe I was Dubbl.
I don't care. I'm back to having fun, like my first week before they thought I was the evil one. There's great people at SC. They can't help but to jut out, no matter what they might think of me. For the most, it's all dropped and forgotten, save for the letters I continuously have to send off to the Postmaster in Wisconsin for some of the credit card fraud activity that was generated by that Dubbl-imposter.
Crazy stuff.

(reply to NthenSome) posted 26-May-2002 4:40pm
Wow!!!! What a bummer! My husband would've flipped out. He(David) looks at every phone bill with an eagle eye. Nothing gets past him when it comes to our phone bill. One of his greatest pleasures is calling the phone company & having all the charges that doesn't look quite right, removed from the bill. He's good at that kind of stuff.Must be the Irish "gift of gab" in him. * smile * But yeah! I hope that you can resolve this dilemma of yours.I can see your concern.

How did this DUBBL person get your e-mail addy in the first place? **I should talk** Mine is allover this site. Wow! Did you tell Bill about this problem. He doesn't take kindly to computer hacker. Too bad all these hackers can't use their talents for the good of things. * frown *

Oh, like I said I'm over this Dubbl crap, so no big deal there.
The phone company said that it wasn't so much my computer as it was my phone line they hacked - that once they retrieved certain information for it, I didn't even need to have my computer turned on for them to continue to rack it up! How he / she got enough info on me to impersonate me (i.e., to change my phone line features), I'll never know.
And, I mention Wisconsin only as one example of who I had to write to straighten things out. Apparently, a post office box was being used in a "boiler room" sort of fashion there, with a number of people being impersonated in order to receive pre-approved credit cards under the real persons' names.
Check this out:
http://hometown.aol.com/dubblzero/index.html
A lot of my problems in this area stemmed from AOL - more, their lack of action on any of my problems. Some of the material in the above link is pretty funny, when you imagine how frustrated I must have been while writing these things. I had posted that stuff on my AOL Hometown site, for my sister to see. She just quit working for AOL late last year after six years, and she is married to someone who still works for them. I wanted to see if they could help, but mostly I wanted to give her a good laugh, haha!
So, no, I live in California as well - L.A. In fact, one late night last week, Kristal_Rose and I were talking all night, like we had been too often by then, I should say, and we got to talking about where we live. We found out we both live in L.A., then we got more specific. We mentioned where we've worked before and where we've lived. Finally, Kristal just comes out and provides her cross-streets. Guess what? We share the exact same cross-streets in this big old city! I just met with her today, gave her and a couple of her friends my personal "tour" of Paramount Pictures, where I work. That was fun!
Oh, and I've been here on SC for only a couple months, minus the three weeks I just "hung back" and read posts.
Thanks for the welcome. (I've never said that before: "Thanks" for the "welcome"? haha.)

"I Will Serenade You", "Sure As I'm Sittin' Here", "Family Man", "Joy to the World", "Hi-De-Hi, Hi-De-Ho" - oh WOW, I love that group!
Too bad the event is so close though. I'm strapped to work until I get our new software in (it's a major overhaul of systems), and budget for 2003 will be due by the end of July, so I usually don't even think about vacationing until after July.

I can't imagine Kansas live these days. So much of it would have to be digitized and played from a source other than the live band members / instruments, wouldn't it? I remember the heavy "synthesizer" (keyboards) sound of that band.
Kansas had so much music played in each and every beat...and, to its fullest talented extent. Few bands are really that musical, in fact, today it would be out of style to have such a full sound like that. Like ELO - another band who was very robust in their musical sounds. Next time you hear an ELO song, listen to the music intently. The "violins" were actually weeks of work per song just to master that one track. (And they weren't violins, they were guitars played with violin bows.)
Love that era - well, those eras...I think I crossed a few in my tangent-hopping there, haha.

Oops (above). I forgot to make the announcement to get your attention (above). [I forgot to "replies to". Dino would have my ass for this one.]
*Joe Cocker taps foot, cross arms, looks at watch, asks "Is this friend of yours...imaginary? Be honest, I won't be mad."*
*drops head, to faintly spring up and down in air*

Oh Wow! I saw Joe Cocker in concert in Hawaii back in 1970.......something.I can't remember the exact year I do know it was between 1972 & 1975 . * frown *

How old are you anyway's??? Dang!! Tell me your not my age! You keep mentioning all the music people from my time. * smile * I'm a hippie child of the sixty's! But born in 1952 the year of the Chinese Dragon. * smile *

Geeze! What a GREAT time it was to be a teenager then,in the 60's. If I could back to a happy time in my life,I would go back then,to the time of the Hippie revolution. **wipes a tear from her eye** I miss those days so much.More so I miss the MUSIC of that time. BUT I get to hear all those old songs again, whenever I hear a commercial on t.v. **arrrrrgh!!!!!! pulls her hair out** I just can't believe them recycling our music like that! The music still sounds great,it's just the way they us it.Car commercials & fast food?? Makes me kinda mad but not.........

I SOOOOOO agree (re bastardizing the music of that era)! They've steered clear of a lot of the good ones. Go ahead - you can have Bob Seger (he's "ok", but the "raspsy" gets old quick, even before one of his own song ends - except "Like a Rock", love that one). But, they're starting to get into Cheap Trick and now Buffalo Springfield. LEAVE THEM ALONE!
I was born in 1964, the...um, the year of the American Boy who was...born that year. Ahem, uhhh...
I got into rock a bit, but I ended up veering toward the sixties and early seventies rock. GREAT era! SO much meaning, and then with some SO much fun. War, remember them? A lot of people don't realize "WAR!" isn't the only song they did. I got "The Best of War and More" album one year and couldn't believe what hits they've had!
Nazereth! What happened to them after "2XS" album? Where'd they GO?
Yesterday and Today (now Y&T), ooooooooooooold Black Sabbath, with RJD: "One day, in the year of the Fox came a time, remember it well...when the strong young man of the rising sun and the towing of the big black bell..." Aaaagh. Almost makes me...well, nevermind about that, haha.
Janice! I didn't like her much until one time I saw one of her performances on tape. Turned me around completely in that one sighting. That girl gave more than she had. Much more.
Let's see...who else, who else...?

Ohhhhhhhh! Myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Goshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! * smile *

WAR was one of the first concert's that I took my daughter to.We saw them at "Pharaohs Kingdom" in Redlands, about two years ago.She wasn't very impressed. * frown * I can't blame her tho, cause you know how THESE youngsters are theses days. **gives Joe the eye** But I was totally floored! It was in an intimate setting (if you've ever been there you'll know what I'm talking about) & we were like 8 rows from the stage. I LOVED IT!! I've never been THAT close to a group before. * smile * They sang all their oldies. * smile * Just like on they're CDS. * smile * After the concert was over, they were signing memorabilia. & me being to chicken to go up there myself to ask if they would sign my WAR T-Shirt, had my 15 year old go up & ask for me. * wink * They all signed the shirt & it hangs in my closet now. * yes * I should really frame it & hang it where I can look at it ALL the time. * idea *

My son (being two years older than her) decided he'd liked to see WAR also,so I took him to their next concert, months later. But that concert was up at the "Greek Theater", & the intimacy wasn't as it was, at the Redland's concert. * frown * He & his friend really enjoyed it. * smile * (he likes the same kind of music that I listen to) The only draw back is that the seating was something less to be desired. My fault! * frown * I took to long to purchase those tickets.Other than that... I enjoyed seeing them again.Next time their in concert you must go see them!

But yes I too have their greatest hits. Are you kidding I played it all the way to each concert.....you know??? To get us all in the mood & in anticipation of seeing them. * smile *

Yes! Janissssssssssss! She was a one of a kind......that's for sure!!! My older brother got me hip to all THAT music. * smile * **wipes a tear** Those were the good 'ole days for sure! I was living up in Fort Ord when the Monterey Pop Fest was happening but, I wasn't allowed to go...........I was on restriction at the time. * frown * Arrrrrrrgh!!! **pulls more hair out** I could just kick myself!I missed some of THE GREATEST bands of all time that weekend. * frown *

Say?? Have you not gone to the survey asking if you would like to have your name sculpted in styrofoam yet?? I did that one.But I signed it "anonymous" as an inside joke. Any of the SC users that know me already knew it was me. Go there. Here's the link:

http://surveycentral.org/survey/12429.html

The survey is a real offer. Some SC users had not had their names done yet. & I hadn't gotten around to offering other SC users here if they would like me to sculpt their names. Let me know okay???
Poor Dino had waited months before he received one. I had no idea that he even wanted one. * smile * He just received his recently. * smile *

BTW what month of the year of the Dragon where you born??? If your birthday happens to fall anytime after the 13th of February than you are a Dragon also!!!! * smile * If your birthday is before that date, then your A Rabbit child. * wink *
