| confetti | posted 25-Mar-2002 2:17pm Nislin. That's Sweetlan for 'mother'. 'Nis' is 'shelter' or 'nest' and 'lin' is 'light'. |
| dora | posted 25-Mar-2002 3:03pm Genitrix for mother. Warm-parent or soft-parent for mom since moms are supposed to be warm and soft 2 words but maybe you could just call her softent or warent |
| heyzeus1 | posted 25-Mar-2002 3:54pm i just call her by her name anyway. if i were refering to someone elses mother, i would just say parent. |

| Biggles | posted 25-Mar-2002 4:37pm I think that the same word ("ma" and variants) would evolve again. It comes from the mouth shape babies make when suckling which is why most languages have some kind of "ma" variant. |

| RayB | (reply to Dino) posted 26-Mar-2002 10:18am I don't want anyone to use me as a role model. I wouldn't consider myself good enough. |
| Dubbl | (reply to RayB) posted 26-Mar-2002 10:28am Nor would anyone who's bothering to listen to you right now, RayBee. Nor would we. |
| confetti | (reply to kaleb777) posted 26-Mar-2002 10:46am One of the languages from my books. You have a lot of catching up to do |
| cuteasabutton | (reply to Dino) posted 26-Mar-2002 12:14pm *sniffs* I think RayB is giving Christians a bad name. I am one of them and he is making me look like a fool. The Bible is a good book- if you don't beat someone with it! Don't disregard it- K? |
| Dino | (reply to cuteasabutton) posted 26-Mar-2002 12:21pm *grumble grumble* 'right |
| RayB | (reply to Dubbl) posted 26-Mar-2002 12:26pm You are one classy person. |
| RayB | (reply to cuteasabutton) posted 26-Mar-2002 12:30pm I take offense to what you said. If you think the Bible says it is okay to be a homosexual or okay to abort the innocent, then you need to check if the "book" you have is really a Bible. |
| Biggles | (reply to RayB) posted 26-Mar-2002 12:33pm Do you think you could be a Christian and not believe what Paul said? Surely he's the only person in the NT to mention homosexuality? Just wondering |
| RayB | (reply to Biggles) posted 26-Mar-2002 1:11pm Please, what are you referring to? Here are a few scriptures that deal with homosexuality as being immoral: Leviticus 18:22-29 Leviticus 20:13 Genesis 19 Romans 1:26-32 I Cor 1:26-32 I Timothy 1:8-10 Just by reading the first two eliminates any argument as to what the Bible says about homosexuality. This is without mentioning what happened in Genesis 19. |
| Biggles | posted 26-Mar-2002 1:24pm Well, Genesis and Leviticus are both in the OT aren't they? I'm always being told by my Christian friends that Jesus came and changed everything so a lot of the rules in the OT don't count? That's why Christians don't still campaign for women raped within a city to be stoned for adultery. None of those scriptures deal with Christ saying "homosexuality is wrong" do they? So how can Paul's words be considered as valid as Christ's? Couldn't someone call themselves a Christian and do as Christ said without following Paul's rules? Surely Christ's "Love thy neighbour as thyself" is more important than Paul's "men must not lie with men" (paraphrased)? |
| DeeJay | (reply to RayB) posted 26-Mar-2002 5:26pm Put the bible away for a second and decide what YOU think is wrong and right. Stop being a total lamb and be your own person, If you think homosexuallity is wrong, than fine. But quit throwing the bible into everything and use your own mind and mouth. |
| TylersMamma | (reply to DeeJay) posted 26-Mar-2002 11:04pm I'm not trying to put down or disregard anyones beliefs or feelings but i'm right there with you DJ... |
| Biggles | (reply to RayB) posted 27-Mar-2002 7:22am I replied to you above. |
| cuteasabutton | (reply to RayB) posted 27-Mar-2002 2:22pm I am sorry that I hurt your feelings- that was not my intent. I never said that the Bible condoned homosexuality, or abortion, or anything else. I don't think that it does. There are many things in my life and the lives of others that I would and SHOULD be condemned to hell for, if it were not for the blood of my Savior. And if you were truthful with yourself you would have to say the same. There are no degrees of sin- your sin, my sin, or the sin of homosexuality are no different. You are fooling yourself if you think that your 'lesser sins' make you a better person in the eyes of God. You *cannot* shame someone into being saved. They must come to that decision on thier own- and you beating them with the Bible is not going to help, dear. You seem like a wonderful person to know- even if I disagree with your witnessing technique. But please don't disregard the people here just because they do or say things that you do not agree with. The abrasiveness is getting you nowhere with this crowd. |
| RayB | (reply to cuteasabutton) posted 27-Mar-2002 4:52pm I am not disregarding people here and ofcoarse I am not perfect, nor anyone else. I merely am answering questions of me. We are all born depraved thus imperfect. We will stumble and sin, but let us not get confused with "committing sin" and "living in sin." |
| natsim | posted 3-Apr-2002 8:05pm This is an insane hypothetical. |
