| Biggles | posted 26-Mar-2002 6:53am I'm not very keen on any of them. I suppose my favourite is the spinny thing - but not a tilting one - I have no idea what it's called. |
| Dino | posted 26-Mar-2002 7:17am Its the anti-gravity gyroscope thing. Basically its a big wheel and you stand in it. Then it spin really fast and tips up and you're pinned to the side. Scary it took three years as a teenager for me to pluck up the courage to go on it. My mates all went on it but I was too chicken. It was a great sense of personal achievment to finally go on it. The reality wasn't so bad. |
| jettles | posted 26-Mar-2002 7:54am food stands are up there!!! bumper cars, roller coaster and the dunking tank!! |
| CarolL | posted 26-Mar-2002 8:59am Tilt-a-whirl rules! And the ferris wheel and roller coasters Good survey. |
| CarolL | (reply to jettles) posted 26-Mar-2002 9:01am Oh, yeah. I love carnival food. Carny-fries are good -- french fries with chili and sour cream. Mmmmmmm. Cotton candy and caramel apples...I can't wait for spring! |
| Jemmy | posted 26-Mar-2002 10:12am Oh, I love amusement parks! I like rides more than "attractions". I like rollercoasters, water rides, bumper cars and boats, tilt-a-whirl and other rides that make you dizzy...I really love amusement parks. |
| Cain | posted 26-Mar-2002 10:27am Rollercoasters. Oblivion and Nemesis at Alton Towers are fantastic. |
| Galomorro | posted 26-Mar-2002 10:31am Roller coasters, Octopus and Anti-Gravity rides. I used to also like the Rock-O-Plane, Loop-O-Plane, Scrambler, Ride-in fun houses, Round-up and some others but I haven't been to an amusement park in a while so some of these may have since been replaced or given other names. |
| confetti | posted 26-Mar-2002 10:54am Jaw-droppingly good survey I had a dream about a carnival after I wrote about the gang going to Cider Oaks to join in a feast and a festival filled with colors, light and 'whimsical bright things that might catch one's attention for a moment, and then fade by the next, much like a butterfly held up to the sun'. One of my favorite chapters so far; I like to see them unwind and be happy and kid-like. I generally love everything (except for clowns, and fortune tellers best) at carnivals. But only at night. |
| cuteasabutton | posted 26-Mar-2002 11:55am I am a child at heart. I love most all of these! Except clowns- and this thing we have here at Lagoon called the Skyscraper and the Rocket too. I hate those. *wretches* I can't stand being dropped! |
| jettles | (reply to CarolL) posted 26-Mar-2002 12:30pm where do you live that there is a carnival?? we have a fair here. i think it is in the late summer, early fall. |
| CarolL | (reply to jettles) posted 26-Mar-2002 12:40pm I called it a carnival -- it is also known as a midway. We have one come to town (in northern Ontario) in the spring, summer and fall. |
| spidertea | (reply to confetti) posted 26-Mar-2002 2:29pm Thanks hon! It feels to get a compliment once in a while. |
| Gamera | posted 26-Mar-2002 3:21pm I love the games, and the carousels... the older I get the more queezy I get on rides. At this point I *think* I could still ride the Swinger, but that would be it. That's okay, you guys go on all the rides, I'll be over here playing SkeeBall and Darts and Ring Toss, and the one with the cats and the softballs... all damn day long!!!! Mostly I just like being outside in the sun watching people have a good time. |
