I don't think Lewinsky's smart enough to have understood the consequences of her actions. I think Tripp was trying to get rid of Clinton, but I don't think she was smart enough for a setup. Starr is easily that smart, but I don't think he found out about the shenanigans of the other two until later. On the other hand he did lay a pretty effective perjury trap.

I am highly amused by the ultimate consequence of all this, which is going to be the non-renewal of the Independent Prosecutors Act when it comes up again this year.

Waaaah! This isn't a survey, it's a diatribe :) Surveys should have unbiased options to choose, and the "personally" line should go in the creator's comments.

Personally, I think if Bill Clinton KNEW he was being investigated for sexual misconduct with Paula Jones, the LAST thing he should have been doing is screwing around with his intern. Never mind that he cheated on his wife. Never mind all the rest. He was stupid. Sure, others have taken advantage of his stupidity, and they could be in error too. But if he hadn't been screwing around, they wouldn't have caught him at it.

I think we need to censure and move on. Get them out of the limelight and let's get back to work.

I want them all to go away. I want to have no opinion about any of them, and never to have to hear that woman's name again. Unfortunately, I do have opinions about them, and I think that Linda Tripp's contention that she is me is one of the most offensive things I have ever heard. She has violated the sacred bonds of girl talk and should be taken into a ladies' room somewhere and stuffed headfirst into the toilet and left there.

Starr was sent to investigate and find impeachable offenses on Clinton's part. He did. Lewinsky was a kid. Her life must really suck. Tripp was definitely not a friend.

I don't think it was a "setup," but I don't think Tripp or Starr are particularly savory characters. Monica just seems like a dumb kid stuck in the middle of everything.

I am sick and tired of the whole thing; this seems to be the tenor among most people I know. While I don't actually think it was a setup, I would not be shocked to find out that it was. The president's personal life is nobody's business but his. If he did engage in sexual harassment or other unsavory activities it is certainly reprehensible and maybe a crime, it has limited bearing on his ability to do his job and has been blown way out of proportion. I elected a president to govern the country; if I had wanted a role model I would have gone for a king, or a movie star. Hmmm - though we did elect one of those recently...
