Do you have any odd hobbies?

When I say odd, I want to know if you have a hobby that is uncommon.

When I was a kid I collected collector's spoons. This can't be that odd a hobby considering how many frigging collector's spoons there are out there, but I never met anyone else who collected them. I don't think I currently have any particularly odd hobbies.

Uncommon... hmmmm... not really. I think I'm a bit odd, but I can't point my finger at any particular thing that makes me feel that way. I guess it's a bit unusual for a married couple to prefer to live with other unrelated adults rather than living by themselves or with family members- but that's more of a life-style thing than a "hobby."

Not any more. I used to collect weird things; motel montage postcards with a picture of a room, a picture of the lobby, the dining room, the pool, the motel from a distance...

Those promo pictures that all bar bands seem to have, professionally done, they use them in press kits, for advertising gigs etc. Some of them are pretty funny. One is like a low-rent Kiss tribute band with really cheesy costumes. Another one is a Country Lounge Duo standing in a field, each with a foot up on a tractor, one holding a guitar, the other a banjo. Even just the straight forward Heavy Metal bands or New Wave bands are pretty funny. They are always trying so hard to look sexy, cool and tough at the same time.

I used to have an enormous collection of rare and unusual skin mags. I don't think that is an uncommon hobby, what was odd about it was the sheer volume. I estimated once a total value of about $4000 (original cost). The real value would have been much higher. I had some European fetish magazines from the early sixties that were in mint condition. I had been collecting them since I was about 9 years old. (My parents were pretty open minded about it) I made the mistake recently of entrusting them to a friend. He didn't take very good care of them. Most of the covers were off, and they were pretty trashed when I got them back. I wound up tossing them in the dump.

My walls were once lined with carefully restored cans and bottles with a database of all the boked duplicates. I traded it all for a clear vinyl of Bowie narrating Peter and the Wolf which I gave away.
I put all my graphics that reprensent lifes moments in vinyl sleeves, boxes, scans, and my journal. One day Id like the centralized & sequenced with an index.
Rare unread books - check.
SC - of course.
NPR - Have you learned to identify the actors doing interviews yet? "Oh, theres that gal who stuffs navy vending machines". ..or watch the stories mutate "Oh, now the vending machine stuffing interview cites specific candy bar brands". It's really depressing to me, knowing I can't trust a shred of radio to be factual these days.

dont know why, if i like those type of games i refuse to play them online. i used to blame it on my dislike for the very idea of online gaming, but now i am playing return to castle wolfenstein online and cant ever get enough. i bought everquest for $45 and never even bothered to take it out of the box after a 1 1/2 years now. let me know if ultima online turns out to be any good.

as far as npr, well, i am just a news addict, and i cant find better news, even if it leanes to one side or is PR tainted. i find i dont listen to music anymore. poublic radio in the moring on the way to work / at work if the reception is good that day / coming home from work, and then bbc news (or possibly the german channel) at home, cause i am sick of american tv news.

$9.95, I hear. I'm planning some alchemist/tinker & alchemist/tailor characters. My brother was a madman. He'd do things like tear up lake terrain back when there were bugs in the lock-down system so he could have a fishing hole in his cabin. After 9-11 he teleported on top of a huge castle with hundreds of dyed sheets and assembled an american flag that could be seen from space. I plan to go there to preach (about a plane called the physical realm?), and maybe have fun dying and shearing llamas, and making magical jewelry... The sort of thing I'd do now, given the chance. I'd love good company. I'm too proud to rely on my brother much during game-time. Besides, he's spends time stalking NPC charcater generation to scalp their occasional rare black sandals. I can't believe the time he spends alone in spite of it being on-line. I'd be playing on the pacifica shard (UO universe clone) which has 20-80000 players (although it only looks like a few hundred to me) so I can visit family (even my ex & son play there).

I don't really have any odd hobbies. I collect anything and everything that has to do with Coca-Cola. Most of it is boxed up right now, but I'm planning to redo my kitchen in Coca-Cola in the near future. I've been collecting it since I was 11 or 12 and I've got tons of stuff. Weird thing is that I don't even drink Coca-Cola, I like Dr. Pepper.

I also like photos. My whole house is like a photo musuem. I have pictures on every available space of wall. My fiance hates it, but I love it. I have pictures of my family and friends, from when I was little, before I was born, recent photos. I've got some really old photos of my ancestors when they were living in Italy and Germany. My favorite pictures are ones of my son.

My bro does some of those too, but UO is his prime choice. He says the 3D is buggy. You can use the 2D (second age) to play in most of the same areas. The latest coming out allows you 2D or 3D anywhere. By 2D, it's sort of an orthagonal projection, you see tops and sides of building, but not behind them.

My boss , a vp at the united way, used to check up on people wearing a striped tee-shirt that matched the one on his piglet puppet he'd talk to you with. What a blast, having a piglet say "how's that report coming?", and then if he had any opinions about something, he would discuss it with the piglet in front of you. It was all good natured though.
