I don't have a single favourite. But my favourites are Father Ted, I'm Alan Partridge, The Royle Family, One Foot in the Grave, Blackadder, Spaced, The Young Ones, Men Behaving Badly, The League of Gentlemen, Fawlty Towers and Coupling. Oh yes.. and the Simpsons

Okay this is really embarrasing. But in qual I told the Survey Creator that I objected to providing a list of sitcoms - all of which were American. I said how can us non-Americans participate in this survey.

My answer is - Frasier. * wry smile *

*votes survey good - as it now is*

I don't think the shows I watch qualify as sitcoms. I watch Buffy, Angel, Roswell, and The West Wing.
I guess "Popular" was a sitcom. That was probably my favorite sitcom ever. Other sitcoms I've watched at various times don't really rank.

I don't watch television anymore, so I'm not up to date on the latest offerings. I will have to answer this from a historical perspective. I think that the best TV show EVER, sitcom or otherwise, was Fawlty Towers.

I've found the powerage site before using google when I've been looking for Fast Show scripts (usually to settle an argument), but because it linked straight to the Fast Show page, I didn't realise it also had League of Gentlemen and others. I'll check it out properly when I have the time.

It took me a while to realise why you'd given me the second link, then I got to the bottom and saw a blast from the past. You certainly brought a smile to my face * smile * .

Well since I no longer have cable I do not watch sitcoms any longer. I sometimes, however, watch on my neighbor's TV, and I especially like "That's My Bush," "AbFab," "Designing Women," "Golden Girls," "Some of my Best Friends...," "Friends," "Powers that Be," "Filthy Rich." (Some of these are long gone).

There's a real lot of good sitcoms. I have trouble choosing just one. Of the currently running sitcoms though I guess I'd select Frasier as my favorite.

1) Boston Public. I almost never miss an episode. Damn it, this week my tape ran out.

2) South Park, though I have to wait until Sunday night to watch it

**) #1 Six Feet Under but it got disquaificied because its not a sitcom.

The Job is a fairly new sitcom but I agree with you it's very funny. Did you see the one a couple weeks ago where Dennis Leary's character was meeting the mistress' parents. It was funny! * smile *

The one Wednesday night was even funnier than that one. His wife AND mistress at his partner's anniversary party and he's trying to keep them apart. I swear, he just keeps digging deeper and deeper into trouble. If he doesn't watch out, he's gonna dig his own grave one of these days! * smile *

Lazy Jayne was Andy's band. He wrote all the lyrics, most of the music and was the lead singer. But about half way through '99 he decided he wanted to concentrate on his career in the police force and moved down to Reading. The rest of the band were Andy's brother Jono on drums, Dave (who brought me into the band) on bass and me on guitar. We practiced in Andy and Jono's parents house, in a garage that had been converted into a studio. The house was in the middle of the country side so there was no danger of disturbing the neighbours. Before we split up, we'd done a few gigs and were starting to get confident. The tracks on mp3.com were recorded the day after we won a battle of the bands competition at Staffordshire University. We used the winnings to hire a professional studio and sound engineer for a day.

I'm not in a band anymore. I still play guitar every day, and I only ever play my own material (although I'm awful at writing lyrics). The closest I get to being on stage nowadays is karaoke night at the Bull's Head on a Wednesday.

On the plus side, I've just started seeing someone who's a dab hand at the piano, so maybe we'll be stoking each other's creative fires (so to speak).

I think bands are only really necessary if you enjoy the collaboration. Sometimes (often) the personalities are more trouble than they're worth. With the technology available today, it isn't very hard (or expensive) to do everything yourself. If you do decide to collaborate, you can go into it with a different attitude. You're doing it because you want to, because it is fun, not because you need these people to make music.

Yes, I see what you mean. I often find that I have ideas that I have trouble fleshing out and welcome the input. But I can see myself making music on my own. I'm finding myself influenced by Badly Drawn Boy these days.
Zang
(reply to icurok) posted 21-Mar-2002 1:12pm
It took me a second there, I was like "Badly Drawn Boy, why does that sound familiar?" Then I remembered, he was on that U.N.C.K.L.E. release "Psyence Fiction". I'm not otherwise familiar with his work. Do you know that one?
icurok
(reply to Zang) posted 21-Mar-2002 1:51pm
I didn't, but had a look and the track on Psyence Fiction is "Nursery Rhyme" which is not bad. If you'll have heard anything else by him, it would probably be "Once Around The Block" which had a video where he was a taxi cab that took people around New York by giving them piggy back rides. I'd recommend his debut album "The Hour of the Bewilderbeast".
