| dora | posted 13-Mar-2002 11:47am I die a lot in dreams.A lot. |
| Amanda | posted 13-Mar-2002 11:49am I wouldn't say I've actually died in a dream because I didn't see myself die and have no idea how it happened. But, I've had dreams that I was at my funeral and I'm walking around, listening to what everybody is saying about me. Nobody can see me and I try to touch people, but they can't feel me. It's weird. My Mom dreams about dying pretty often. She's terminally ill with stage 4 recurrent colorectal cancer that has spread to her lymphnodes and one lung. Anyway, she dreams that she's laying in a coffin and they close the lid. She wakes up screaming. I've always heard that if you actually die in a dream, that your heart will stop beating. I wonder if this is true. I've never heard of anyone actually dying, only having dreams similar to mine or my Mom's. Is there evidence to support this theory? |
| Biggles | posted 13-Mar-2002 2:19pm I sometimes thinks so, sometimes I'm not so sure. I think I often wake up just before I die, but I wake up knowing that I died. If that makes any sense! I once killed someone though. A man - we had him tied in a chair in our living room. We'd already beaten him really badly. I had a gun and I shot him in the head. That's one of the most disturbing dreams I've ever had. |
| Biggles | (reply to Amanda) posted 13-Mar-2002 2:21pm I'm really sorry to hear about your mom I can't imagine that your heart would stop if you dreamed about dying - there is a relationship between heart rate and what you dream but I can't see it going that far. Possibly you could be so scared it stopped temporarily - so it missed a few beats? |
| RayB | posted 13-Mar-2002 2:44pm Not into that out-of-body thing. |
| CarolL | posted 13-Mar-2002 3:30pm No, but I have wanted to on occasion. |
| confetti | posted 13-Mar-2002 4:35pm Aren't you all ghosts as well? This is a bit strange. |
| Amanda | (reply to Biggles) posted 13-Mar-2002 4:41pm They don't expect my Mom to live through the year. It's been really hard, but we're coping pretty well. I'm doing a lot better than I'd have expected myself to do. My Mom is my best friend, so I'm losing my Mother, my best friend, and all that. Thanks for your concern. I don't know if you could really die if you dream you die. I've heard that all my life. I don't know how anybody could prove it, though. If the person is dead, how is he/she going to tell you they dreamed about dying?!?! |

| icurok | posted 14-Mar-2002 8:28am In my dreams, yes. Out of body experiences, no. Have I ever been clinically dead, no. |
| Lex | posted 14-Mar-2002 9:10am Yes I have. And, in my dream, I was very annoyed about the fact. |
| Lex | (reply to Amanda) posted 14-Mar-2002 9:12am No you dont die if you dream of dieing. I've died in a dream, as have several here, yet we are all still very much alive. So theres lots of evidence to disprove that theory, and NO evidence to prove it. |
| autumnlight | posted 14-Mar-2002 12:00pm Yes. The one I most remember was when me, my mum and dad and sister were in a car and drove off the harbour and drowned. |
| dora | (reply to Biggles) posted 14-Mar-2002 6:56pm Wow,you're dangerous! |
| Amanda | (reply to Lex) posted 15-Mar-2002 1:26am That's straight. I was just repeating what I've always heard. I have always thought it was kind of far fetched, but who knows. Maybe it COULD happen, but I sure as hell hope that I don't have to find out. If you ever die in a dream, come back as a ghost and haunt Survey Central and tell us about it! |
| Lex | (reply to Amanda) posted 15-Mar-2002 6:41am OK, I'll do my best ghostly impression just for you. |
| Cain | posted 15-Mar-2002 8:58am Nope, not as far as I'm aware. |

| LionOfJudah | (reply to Amanda) posted 17-Mar-2002 9:26am How's your mom? Sorry to hear about her being in the way she is....my dad died of lung cancer 3 years ago. I thought I could handle it too! I think I did okay.....my older sister totally lost control.......but she had guilt, she was angry at my dad for a lot of things...so she had to cope with all that. Me, well, I loved my dad more than any of us kids. It was really hard though.....I miss him so much......he was my best friend. I still think of him and sometimes cry.....I can CRY NOW....I didn't cry when he died or at his funeral .....it's taken 3 years to do that.....the most important thing was to pray for him and with him...I prayed with him....he received salvation and got saved 9 days before he died, I was with him the day he died......I watched him die, that is the hardest thing to do. I don't ever want to go through that again........I loved him so much, I couldn't let him die and go to hell....his blood is not on my hands now. Because I know the Lord and I had the responsibility to tell him about Jesus. So I really feel for you. It is a hard thing to go through......losing someone you love so much.......and watching them slowly fade away and die........I got through it because I pray and spend time with the Lord.....He is my best friend......the word of God helped me so much. Just want you to know that. |
| LionOfJudah | posted 17-Mar-2002 9:39am No, I've never died in a dream. But yes, I died for 7 minutes when I had an emergency c-section ( with my son). And yes, I did see myself laying there on the operating table, and no, i didn't experience the light at the end of the tunnel thing. All humankind have a soul.....the soul never dies. Like it says in the bible, when you die,you either live in eternity in heaven or are tormented in hell. I don't believe in ghosts.....there are our spirits and soul, or heavenly spirits, or demons. And I don't believe in the dead coming to visit as ghosts either. That's crap.......those things are called familial spirits or demons spirits posing as a dead loved one......and they usually come to a person who has sorrow of the soul and that opens them up to demonic activity. |
| Jemmy | posted 18-Mar-2002 3:44pm Yeah, in a dream once. |
| Amanda | (reply to LionOfJudah) posted 19-Mar-2002 12:44am Thanks for asking about my Mom. Her doctors do not expect her to make it through this year. They say there is nothing they can do to help. All we can do now is pray for a miracle. We are looking into some clinical trials to see if there might be something that will help. We have come to grips with the fact that she is going to eventually lose this battle with cancer. But, she is not ready to let go. She wants to see if there is something that could prolong her life a little longer. I talk to her about it a lot. She seems comfortable talking to me about these things. We've always been close and told each other everything. She told me she is not scared to die. She knows an angel is waiting for her and is going to take her into Heaven to met the Lord. She knows that whenever she gets ready to let go, we will stand behind her. She knows we'll be sad and go through a lot, but we only want what is best for her. We want the pain to stop. I'm really sorry to hear about your Dad. It sounds like you and him were a lot like me and my parents. My parents are my best friends. They always have been. I'm Daddy's Little Girl and Momma's Little Angel. |
