| Biggles | posted 16-Mar-2002 4:59pm China; Germany, Great Britain, Italy, France (the four main players in the EU); Japan; the Netherlands (because it's culture and views on moral issues are certainly spreading); Russia (because countries such as America still pay a lot of attention to it's every move and take care not to upset its leaders - apart from the NMD); the USA and (unfortunately) the Vatican. |

| natsim | posted 18-Mar-2002 2:18am USA, Vatican. I couldn't be bothered choosing anyone less powerful than those two. I'm amazed that some people picked Australia....? |
| Lex | posted 18-Mar-2002 4:05am USA, UK, germany, japan, russia china |
| Lex | posted 18-Mar-2002 4:08am Why on earth have 7 people picked canada? Its just a nearly empty space above the USA. |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to kaleb777) posted 18-Mar-2002 4:44am & Israel? (with saudi arabia, hmm..) Even if we sell Coca-cola in china, i don't think they really belong on the list. We're probably tighter with the former USSR. |

| kaleb777 | (reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 18-Mar-2002 4:30pm Saudi Arabia (Mekkah and other sites) in Islam is similar to the Vatican and Catholocism. Saudi Arabia weilds more power than they are aware of or have yet had the nerve to use. There is no central figure in Islam to match The Pope, but the west wouldn't dare attack a country containing Islams's treasures and that gives them a lot of power. China is powerful because they are so populous. Huge markets give power and as China becomes wealthy their defense spending will increase. They are a major player. Israel is seen by many as an extention of the UK and US. Only this has stopped the Arab world from pushing the Jewish people into the sea. They in themselves are not a large player, but Israel is certainly a flashpoint. The United States of Europe will soon start throwing their weight around again. |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to kaleb777) posted 19-Mar-2002 2:31am Sorry, I thought you were suggesting they were all in league together. |
| kaleb777 | (reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 19-Mar-2002 5:27pm Maybe they are? |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to kaleb777) posted 20-Mar-2002 12:00am If they are, they haven't told me about it. |
| Lex | (reply to kaleb777) posted 20-Mar-2002 6:36am "Israel is seen by many as an extention of the UK" Is this correct? I didnt think so, I thought it was considered an extension of the US, but never the UK |
| kaleb777 | (reply to Lex) posted 20-Mar-2002 11:56am UK/US. Some people believe these two countries as well as Australia, Canada and New Zealand are also part of "Israel", not the country per se, but the "chosen people". The British established Israel remember. You might find it interesting to check out the geneology and origins of British Royalty. |

| jonmachine | posted 9-Apr-2002 4:38pm The next century will be China's century, and i would like to think India's too. The E.U has the ability, but not the political will, to become a new superpower. Due to the plummeting popularity of all things American around the world, logically their influence should decrease too, but time alone will tell. |
