Is there a movie that you have seen many times, but would like to see again and again?

I don't mean just "movies you like"; you may like a movie, but not want to see it time after time. And vice versa, a movie may not be particularly good, but it still can catch you.
If there's such movie for you, what is it? You can list more than one.

Jedi: The acting was sub-par, especially from Fisher. The Ewoks blow. C'mon, the Stromtroopers are supposed to be trained soldiers and they get beat by a bunch of fudging muppets?
Menace: Aside from the obvious plot inconsistencies, Jar Jar Binks was annoying as hell, and Liam Neeson & Samuel L. Jackson didn't get enough screen time.

vs.

Empire: Dramatic ending, the intro of Boba Fett, the awesome AT-AT on Hoth scene, Cloud City, Billy Dee Williams, despite all the crap the heroes got put through it still ends on an upbeat note! How can you POSSIBLY top that?
vader
(reply to Frostbrand) posted 25-Mar-2002 10:11pm
You can top it with Episode 2 for sure but thats beside the point.

Don't get me wrong I think Empire is awesome too but I'm just saying that LOTR and TPM are the best movies I've seen.

Empire: Han-Leia and Luke-Vader relationships, Boba Fett, Hoth battle, light saber duel between a half-jedi and half man-half machine.

TPM: Butt-kickin pod race, 2 count em' TWO lightsaber fights, Darth Sidious, Darth Maul, HUGE space battle, superior special effects, double bladed lightsaber... nuff said.

Episode 1 rules!

Special effects does not a good movie make. Battlefield: Earth was chcok full of visual effects and that movie sucked balls! Compare to that Clerks, which had NO speical effects (except for one scene where Scott Mosier yelled at Soctt Mosier from a ladder, but that was done with camera moves and edits as oppose dto any computer stuff), which is one of the greatest flciks EVER.

Yes, he could. He could've Anakin a little older. I had no problem with him being young, becuase young people can be pilots (Obi-Wan said he was an accomplished pilot when he first met Anakin in ANH), but in TPM casting a 9 year old was a mistake. Angain, having him young wasn't the prbolem. I would'nt have any toruble with him having been 12 or 13 at the time, but 9? Ugh! Then, ther eis Liam neeson. Great actor, great character, but his presence creates a nit. In ESB Obi-Wan said YODA trained him! Darth Maul was menacing, but grossly underused, and the pod race, while cool looking, wasn't entirley neccessary. Plus why did Lucas feel it neccesary to unilateraly change the accepted pronunciation of Coruscant? The Radio Drama pronunced the second 'c'. The audiobooks of the apporved novels used the seocnd 'c'. Then suddenly TPM comes along and the C is silent? WHAT THE FUDGE?!? was my reaction. TPM wasn't as bad as Jedi, but it could've been better.

::::::in TPM casting a 9 year old was a mistake. Angain, having him young wasn't the prbolem. I would'nt have any toruble with him having been 12 or 13 at the time, but 9? Ugh!:::::::

Hmm, maybe they casted a nine-year-old, BECAUSE ANAKIN IS NINE IN THE STORY!!! On the DVD doc. Lucas says if he made Anakin too old you wouldn't belive that he was the chosen one and that he was really strong with the force. Making him 9 was an exelent move by Lucas because it makes Anakin believable as a Star Wars character.

::::::Then, ther eis Liam neeson. Great actor, great character, but his presence creates a nit. In ESB Obi-Wan said YODA trained him!::::::

Yoda did train him! You should know that! Lucas says he was trained by Yoda in the jedi temple along with the other padawans. Then Qui-Gon came along and took him as an apprentice.

Is it THAT accepted? I don't think so. Since when do the radio series and audio books have the final word? Who says Lucas didn't say Coruscant with the "s" sound that way all along?

One final word:

BrianW, you aren't the director. * wink *

Again, this sounds like backpedaling by the creator who obviously isn't as familiar with his own universe as he should be. Like, Rodenberry never adequately explained why the Klignongs suddenly had forehead ridges when The Motion Picture came along, or why the guy who played Krycek on the X-Files was seen in Season 1 as a crossdressing Amish guy (don't ask). Double check and mate, sucka!

Yeah you said it: HIS OWN UNIVERSE. He knows all about what HE created, what HE made-up. All this other crap you're talking about is contradictory because it isn't the universe Lucas created! Sorry but its just not worth it to go by EVERY published Star Wars item. Just because its licensed by Lucasfilm doesn't mean its got the OK by Lucas.

Uh, vader, ALL Star Wars books and comics and video games that add something to the story ARE approved by Lucas! He was PERSONALLY invovled in the Radio Dramas which I have on CD, and in that LUCAS APPROVED material Coruscant is pronounced core-us-can't, NOT core-us-aunt. In ESB, Obi-Wan said, "There you will meet Yoda, the Jedi Master who instructed me." So, what about Qui-Gon there buddy? Lucas told people he'd had Menace doen for years, but the fact is he wrote it over a weekend with his kid's help, and didn't even bother to watch the other three moives and reading his own source material before going into production.
vader
(reply to Frostbrand) posted 28-Mar-2002 2:00pm
I don't know why you keep going on about the Obi-Wan Yoda thing. I mean if these radio CD's are authorized by Lucas then the Jedi Apprentice(c) books count too! I've read them an they explain this so called "contradiction" perfectly. If you don't want to read them I already explained them in my comments above. So what about that, pal.

As a matter of fact, I have played Hamlet. On stage in an internationally known theatre in front of several thousand people. And I have enough self-respect to know that I made a better dying Hamlet than Mel Gibson did.

When have I ever belittled people who can't get laid? That's your chip that belongs on your shoulder - it has nothing to do with me. I'm an 18 year old virgin. So what? It doesn't upset or concern me. It's not the most important thing in life.

And while I did think that Episode 1 was rubbish, I doubt that I could have done it better myself as I have absolutely no experience of shooting a film.

And as for the donkey fudging, I may have ridden a few in my time but my status as a virgin remains unchanged.
