I worked for the Air Force at Edwards AFB in the mid-60's in aero-engineering & wrote Fortran at that time for various test programs. I LOVED everything about it, but especially the experimental jets. Trouble was, back then, women couldn't fly in the jets because 'pulling Gs' was 'not good for women!'

Coast guard, man, join the coast guard.

Mimi, that's such a load. Women can pull more Gs than men (in general). If I ran the air force the pilots would all be women.

Daver: you know, you can be an aviator in the Navy or Marines, too.

It depends entirely on why I'm being enlisted. If it is for hypothetical future need (i.e. selective service) then I'd choose navy. If it is for a current war which I do not agree with, I'd choose navy. If it is for a current war which I do agree with then I'd choose marines.
If I should get my PPL at some point in time, my last choice would change to air force.
**phi: I don't think carrier landings would agree with me, thanks.

But I have a way to avoid choosing! I'll tell! You don't have to ask; I'll tell. ("I'm against gays in the military. And I don't think we should have to take gym class either." Attribution forgotten, alas.)

Air force. I've always loved planes, my dad was in the air force 'during the war' and served as an English-Spanish translator in Washington.

Mimi: My dad is also a computer engineer and served at Edwards AFB ... I was born at Camp Springs, MD when he was stationed there. Perhaps you knew him? George Waller ...

Flying would be cool!!! Too bad I don't have 20/20 vision.

I really believe I would opt for jail or living in hiding rather than serve in the military. I'd probably be left out for health or sexuality reasons, anyway. If I was going in, no matter what, I'd probably go for the army.

I would never ever join the armed forces, so I can't pretend it either. Sorry!

Can I pick Reserves? :) I don't really know what the differences are.

If I have no choice, might as well go all-out into the Marines.

Right now I'm on a sort of Air Force kick, because I recently met some
really nice airmen. Introduce me to some cute Marines, though, and I
bet you could change my mind...

Put me on a boat with a trumpet and let me practice all day.

Actually, I'm already in the Air Force, so it seems to be a moot point.

I refuse to select one of these. I would be in the brig/lockup/whatever for not fighting, 'cause

"you can't make me kill another man

you can't make me drop bombs on islam

you can't make me part of all your killin'

cause my free will just ain't willin'".

My uncle was in the air-force. Besides, I've people from all branches of the military, and I can tell you that ground pounders like the Army and Marines, are total dimwits, wereas air-force guys are the kind of people you could have an intelligent conversation with.

Air force! I don't have 20/20 vision, and I'm too tall to be able to fit into a cockpit, but I'm sure I'd have a lot of fun in the control tower with a joystick and a radar screen.

What about Coast Guard?, or the Royal Mounted Police?
