Someone running through the neighborhood with a gun. Especially if he has a badge and a uniform.

I'm always paranoid that people (usually friends) are talking about me behind my back and I'll never know it. And sometimes I'll get on this kick where I think people hate me and just pretend to like me. That really sucks and makes me feel incredibly insecure.

When I hear about the demonization of groups of people followed by their destruction and often death. That and the lack of outrage that allows it to continue.

When the boss starts raving about my 'great' work. Usually it means a dirty job he doesn't want to do. Pandora: I just take it for granted they are talking about me behind my back because they are talking about everyone else, why would I be exempt? BUT, I really don't care & it would be good for you to try to adopt that same attitude. Keep asking yourself: "What makes them so special?" I don't have the time to worry about everyone else. And one of my mottos is: No regrets!

Drugs, occasionally. Scary movies, sometimes. Noises outside, sometimes. Books, sometimes.

everything?
noises in the dark, things not conforming to my view of reality.. the seemingly innocent actions of other people. the occurrences that may look random, but happen far too frequently to be really 'random'. it is a matter of noticing and letting your overactive imagination take control.. it makes life that much more interesting.

Evasive answers. I tell the truth as best I can and expect that from others. If I ask someone a direct question and get feeble vague statements as a response it drives me insane ;)

I get paranoid when I'm in a parking lot and some guy sitting in the back seat of a beat up car smoking cigarettes keeps looking at me with a crazy smile on his face. This happened just last week in the parking lot where I work. I've only been in this building for one week and I'm already paranoid about walking through the parking lot. yuck.

The question is a bit vague - does it refer to external events, internal thoughts, people...? Figures of authority (police, etc); consumption of too much aspartame (Nutrasweet™); stress; lack of exercise.

That the little boy who lives inside my stomach and tells me to do things will come back to bother me

When I "feel" someone close to me is out to get me. Being paranoid does not mean they are not out to getcha.

This is kind of a general question, hard to answer specifically. I get paranoid when I think people might want to hurt me, take my stuff, hurt my family, ruin my life....? is that what you were looking for? Or like when my apartment is creaky at night and stuff like that?

Well, when you've been stabbed in the back as often as I have, you start to grow eyes in the back of your head.
