Vote! It's good for you! It builds character! |

I've got a lot of research to do in the meantime, that's for sure. |

Phi, let me know if you find any good web sites for that research... |

I'll be on an airliner all day. I haven't decided if I'm going to try and figure out absentee voting or not. I've got to read the information booklet we got in the mail about all the initiatives on the ballot. |

Sorry, I know many of you will think poorly of me for this - but, I don't really care, I don't feel that my vote makes a difference, I barely even care about "the issues". I wish we would do away with elected legislators and instead have direct voting on each issue by the people (perhaps over the 'net). Then, I would vote on issues I care about - voting for people is too abstract for me. |

I never miss a chance to vote. We lived in the Middle East & had to go to the consulate to vote, but it was worth the trouble. |

I missed the Primary election for the first time since I became eighteen. I was a little depressed for that, but the folks I wanted to win did win. I will be absolutely sure to vote in the actual election. Heck, I'm not working right now so I have no excuses. Also, current predictions hold that this election will have the lowest voter turn out, ever. The key point about this election and the next one is that in the year 2000 there is a census. The number of representatives per state will be determined then. Each district must have a specific number of people. That means the districts will be re-drawn which is done by the state legislatures. Whichever party controls a given state will have the power to draw the district to their choosing which is generally along political lines. This is where the power in this country will be for the next six or so years. |

milktree: well, ok, I guess I'll go randomly fill in some ovals then, since it's good for me and builds character. I have a real problem with the constant message of "vote" without any mention of "only vote if you've informed yourself on the issues, and actually believe in one of the candidates." |

limited choices. I will vote for local referenda. i may vote for local officials. anything else is worthless. |

Not being american, I will not vote for these elections. But I think personnaly that too much people are dying all over the world to get the right to vote, that, if we have the chance to live in a democratic country, we have to vote. |

Never registered in my new town so I can't, nothing much exciting to vote for anyway. |

Yes, definitely. I feel strongly every person eligible should vote. Apparently more and more special interest groups are pushing their members to vote, and since less and less "standard Americans" are voting (50% now?) the special interest groups get more "pull". I feel strongly that one person, one vote FOR REPS should be the way this country runs. It also confuses me how people can rail against the country's government and then not bother to vote in it, or to keep in touch with their reps. Anonymous: We've talked about the "everyone vote on issues" and that's what Perot was pushing. There are many web pages which explain why this is deliberately not how our representative democracy was set up, and why this is a really bad idea in general. I'll see if I can find some of those pages. |

If I don't die or sleep through the day, I will be there, eagerly exercising my right to vote. |

I will vote. |

Wish I could, but I'm too young. |

Vote early! Vote often! I usually take a pass on watching the returns on TV, though. anonymous: Here in California, we have taken a tiny fraction of the "vote on issues" into our own hands with referenda. It's a big-time pain in the tush - every election you wind up wading through reams and reams of stupid ideas that some people thought needed voting on. |

I've voted ever since I could vote. I may not always make the best voting decisions, but at least I feel like I have some sort of input into the process. |

I'm not U.S. resident, sorry. |
