Jimi Hendrix. I have this huge picture of him hanging right above my desk right now. |

I voted for Kurt Kobain because I'm not particualrly familiar with any of the others. Smells Like Teen Spirit has fantastic guitar playing on it, I don't know whether that was Kobain himself though. |

Clapton for me. I've loved his sound for years. |

Kurt. "All Apologies" literally makes tears gush from my eyes. Anj first played it for me We both love them. In addition, I think Tom DeLonge is pretty damn good. And if anyone wants to take me up on the lameness vs. listening-worthy ability of Blink 182, I'm ready |

aw maaan, but you had to pick the worst song as an example! how about white mountain side, song remains the same, dazed and confused, black mountainside, going to california? |

|
| mimind | | (reply to Dino) posted 13-Feb-2002 1:20am |
personally i think the live solo in dazed and confused is the most awe inspiring guitar work ever.. |
| Cleo | | posted 13-Feb-2002 1:26am |
Hendix/Stevie Ray Vaughan & Jimmy Page. I just couldn't pick just ONE,cause in my opinion, these 3 ARE legendary! But you have a great list, which made it very difficult for me to choose.I almost picked Carlos Santana, but I don't like it,when he plays with his back to the audience. That really bugs me.Especially if you pay money to see him in concert, & all you see is his back. |
| darkshadowsseeker | | posted 13-Feb-2002 3:31am |
Since I can only pick one, I'll choose Stevie Ray Vaughn. Followed by Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, B.B.King, Eddie Van Halen, Slash and Jimi Hendrix (but not necessarily in that order). |
| Dino | | (reply to heyzeus1) posted 13-Feb-2002 5:16am |
yeah - the song wasn't quoted as the finest example. Just something that many Zep fans have heard of. I prefer the piano and drum in that song. |
| Dino | | (reply to mimind) posted 13-Feb-2002 5:19am |
again not the finest example of guitar work but I get shivers over 'When the Levy Breaks'. But yeah you're right dazed and confused has it. |

levy breakin is great...heyzeus and i have an ongoing argument over some of the lyrics in that song..."sat on the levy and moaned" or this one is mine "sat on the levy and roamed" i think both are applicable.

| heyzeus1 | | (reply to mimind) posted 13-Feb-2002 10:41am |
oh yeah |
| Dino | | (reply to mimind) posted 13-Feb-2002 11:59am |
I personally believe the song is a euphamism for female ejaculation and so therefore I believe it to me 'moaned'. What do you think? |
| mimind | | (reply to Dino) posted 13-Feb-2002 1:03pm |
mostly i just say 'roamed' just to argue with heyzeus, but i like the idea of 'sitting' somewhere and 'roaming' in your head. |

There are a lot of good ones but Jimmy Page is the man. |
| ASexyBabesToy | | (reply to heyzeus1) posted 16-Feb-2002 7:21am |
Hendrix was my second choice too. I wish he could have stayed around longer. Jimmy Page rules. |
| heyzeus1 |
yeah. i am changing my mind to hendrix for first place, after hearing 'born under a bad sign' while driving to work yesterday morning. nobody can beat that. |
| ASexyBabesToy | | (reply to heyzeus1) posted 16-Feb-2002 12:33pm |
If Hendrix was alive longer it would be a very hard choice for me. They are both the best ever but I still lean towards Jimmy Page. I may be biased because I believe Led Zeppelin is the best band ever. Just think about what Hendrix could have done. It's a shame his life ended so early. |

If I could have rated this survey "Best I've Ever Participated In", I would have added the comment, "By Far"! Namely, since you included the best guitarist ever in your choices - Yngwie Malmsteen. His heavy and classical guitar playing - and that he performed both flawlessly - rates that legend "a mentor of legends". Rise, Yngwie! Rise! - Dubbl, DubblZero@aol.com |
| Dubbl | | (reply to Dubbl) posted 9-Mar-2002 6:49am |
That is, of course, with all due respect to Jimmy and Jimi, and to BB (just because he's been known as "the best" for so long), and ... ahem! ... what happened to including Randy Rhoades? |
