| elijahblue | posted 21-Oct-1998 9:28pm I associate North with coldness; South with Southern accents and racism and excessive heat; West with the pioneering spirit; and East (which is what I chose) with the rising sun. |
| lelle | posted 21-Oct-1998 10:38pm It's a tossup between north and east. I don't know why. |
| hunter | posted 22-Oct-1998 6:29am Daver, I picked north, too, which is why I created this survey. Perhaps it's because north is associated with up? Or perhaps, like you, there's something inside that knows I belong a little closer to the Arctic Circle. *daver: I was born in Upstate New York. I meant more the heritage thing, though (mostly Scots, a little English). |
| lisashea | posted 22-Oct-1998 9:32am North, for some reason. I hate the heat, perhaps :) |

| jjg | posted 22-Oct-1998 1:23pm I prefer to look in the direction of on coming traffic. |
| jonas | posted 22-Oct-1998 4:23pm For some reason, I've always associated North and East as the dominant directions. Of the two, North is king. I have no idea why. |
| pandora | posted 22-Oct-1998 5:24pm I'm particularly drawn to North. Who knows why. When I hear it, I'm just like, "Yeah." By the way, I think this survey is very odd, but original. |
| dpolicar | posted 22-Oct-1998 6:56pm I'm *really* intrigued by the stats on this one. |
| bill | posted 23-Oct-1998 9:06am northeast - hmm.. Realy North and/or East. Northeast is a compromise. I live in the northeasten US. East is Boston or the Ocean, North is New Hamshire, the mountains (where I often go to visit friends, and have fun hiking or skiing). It's too bad we can't do stats on where a person lives for this one. I really gotta do some kind of cross-reference feature some day. |
| gilly | posted 23-Oct-1998 10:40am Left. I rarely know which was the compass points are. |
| phi | posted 23-Oct-1998 3:05pm North Is Up. Literally, where I grew up, in the foothills on the southern side of the San Gabriel Mountains. |
| grmbrand | posted 27-Oct-1998 4:34pm I prefer a non-cardinal direction (i.e. puddingward) |
| Sybal | posted 1-Nov-1998 10:55am well, I've always had a very strong feeling about Oregon, which happens to be West, but I chose North....because if someone were to say quick pick a direction! thats what I'd pick |
| Resy | posted 3-Nov-1998 9:59am the one that takes me where I'm going. |
