| Enheduanna | posted 8-Feb-2002 3:43pm Buy a car, buy a new bed and sofa, buy some clothes and other stuff for my apartment, save a bunch to pay for car insurance, put the rest in a CD or something. |
| lara | posted 8-Feb-2002 3:44pm i do have $25,000. i checked things i'm likely to do with it in the next year or so. |
| Jemmy | posted 8-Feb-2002 3:59pm I don't think 25,000 is enough to do everything I just checked off! |
| mandy | posted 8-Feb-2002 4:04pm In the past I would have said pay off debts and buy a car but I have those two things covered on my own now so: I would give a chunk to my SO to pay off the rest of her debts and then I would find out the very best way that the money left could work towards making sure Mallory has a good college education. Once my debts and my SO's debts were gone, we could afford a down payment on a house of our own. The neat thing is though, even though the money would speed things along a little for us, we really don't need it because we are on track anyway, without it |
| Matt | posted 8-Feb-2002 4:07pm Get an apartment. |
| kaleb777 | posted 8-Feb-2002 4:12pm Add it to my house deposit and buy a house. |
| confetti | posted 8-Feb-2002 6:14pm I've already spent quite a lot of imaginary survey money on charity, so I think it's about time I thought about myself. Pink calculator or no, almost everyone lacks something material to benefit themselves... STOCKS!!!!!!!! I'm obsessed with stocks right now. I think they're the coolest thing ever. My dad was quite good with them. The only company he ever had shares with that flopped was this one that sold these sensor-equipped teddy bear robots (like the one in A.I.). I'm thinking of looking into that because I bet they could find a way to put them back on the market and sell them well, or have a similar concept. I also have VERY high hopes for this new company that specializes in exercise videos. But not tacky ones. They're for teenagers, and they blend in dance and hip hop style moves in their routines, which are designed by exercise experts. They actually have real teenagers doing them, with warm-ups and everything. The best thing about them, I think, is the music. Moby and Chemical Brothers and Nelly Furtado...great concept. I am definitely planning on striving to get a scholarship to an I.L. college in the States. The next three years of my life (9th, 10th and 11th grade) are going to leave me RAW from studying so much. If I can only get a part-scholarship, then some of that twenty-five grand will go to the rest. Whatever is left over I take to Ralph Lauren in L.A. and buy enough clothes for a year or so. |
| heyzeus1 | posted 8-Feb-2002 6:41pm i did have $22500 a little over a year ago frm a settlement. i bought two cars gave one away, bought this computer, bought a beer making kit, bought some stocks and lost the money, paid my debts, used some for a vacation to tennessee/virginia, and ate better/drank better for a long time, bought some friends some stuff, and started paying child support. |
| Dino | posted 8-Feb-2002 7:13pm That's £17,673.55 in real money. Okay, so I would buy my Mum something nice - can't think what though. I would have hair removal on my back. (I hate it) Then I would buy nice new things for my apartment |
| Galomorro | posted 8-Feb-2002 7:25pm After I paid off my debts, I'd probably get a new Mac G4 and a digital camera. |
| Oscar | posted 8-Feb-2002 10:01pm Pay off all my debts and have cosmetic surgery (liposuction and lasec surgery) |
| darkshadowsseeker | posted 8-Feb-2002 10:17pm Pay off my debts and save the rest for a rainy day (seeing as how I live in Oregon-I didn't mean that in the literal sense). |
| jettles | posted 8-Feb-2002 10:17pm pay off debts and give some to a charity. |
| HareKrishna | posted 8-Feb-2002 11:12pm Give lots of jare Krishna food to the poor people. |

| LindaH | posted 9-Feb-2002 12:20am Pay off debts, invest some, save some, put a down payment on a house. |
| LindaH | (reply to confetti) posted 9-Feb-2002 12:23am I'm a market watcher. I have shares in Ballard Power Systems and Millenium Cell. I've had Ballard since they were $12.00/share and hardly anyone knew who they were. When I was in school, my finance class had pretend stock picking, and I made the most money. |
| Cleo | posted 9-Feb-2002 3:35am 1)Go on a shopping spree & shop till I drop. One of the first things I'd do,is get the BEST ISP service, money can buy,for my newly purchased computer.Hire me a computer guru,to teach me everything,I need to know about computers. 2)Shower my family, friends & my SC buddies, with gifts. 3)Take a mini vacation & go home for three weeks. 4)Buy a car that runs good & cheap.Nothing fancy, probably a 64 Mustang 5)Make a hefty donation to my church. I was going to add another room to my house, for my new computer, but I calculated everything,& I'm broke now. |
| Cleo | (reply to Oscar) posted 9-Feb-2002 3:47am Just curious....how did you come to the conclusion of the $25,000 sum? Not ragging on you, just curious. |
| confetti | (reply to LindaH) posted 9-Feb-2002 1:19pm Cool! I've never heard of Millenium Cell though. What's it about? |
| LindaH | (reply to confetti) posted 9-Feb-2002 3:07pm They have a method of storing hydrogen for safe transporting, and stuff. "Hydrogen on Demand" I don't exactly understand the chemistry of it. I bet Biggles could. They also make fuel cells. |
| Oscar | (reply to Cleo) posted 9-Feb-2002 6:33pm Just the one I wanted to use I guess. No reason. "-) |

| Cleo | (reply to Oscar) posted 10-Feb-2002 3:00am Humm! Interesting. |
| phi | posted 11-Feb-2002 12:52am I'd buy topper a new van, have some work done on the house, travel someplace i'd never been (perhaps Alaska, perhaps Australia, perhaps Central America), give some to a whole mess of different charities a hundred or two at a time, and invest some. |
| natsim | posted 27-Feb-2002 2:07am Donate some to my church, and to overseas aid organisations. Get the floorboards and picture rails done in my house. Buy a nice piece of furniture or art. Get extravagant gifts for friends. Pay off some of my mortgage with whatever's left. |
| autumnlight | posted 4-Apr-2002 8:16pm I would pay off my mum's debts, buy my dad a new car, go on a shopping spree, give my sister some and pay for a couple of weeks abroad somewhere. And I would subscribe to SC of course. |
| Glassa | posted 10-May-2002 4:30pm I would probably put some in savings and put some toward a home. But if I had to use it toward something silly, I would get cosmetic surgery. Liposuction, and breast work. If I had anything left, I would get cable TV. |
| Slimey | posted 24-Jun-2002 11:54pm Bank it, pretend it is not there. |
