I used to live walking distance from his friend, where he stayed when he was in Anchorage. I was also on jury duty for 4 months with another one of his friends. I have a couple of stories I can share, if you would be interested. |

now that i've got my composure, it's so sad he's gone. there is/was NO ONE else like him, there will never be he was truely a poet, a friend such a sweet soul who has made such a huge impact on me i'm not ashamed to climb up to the highest mountain and yell "I LOVE JOHN DENVER!!!!" that would be the proudest moment in my life, besides the birth of my child, of course my kid likes john too...his dad HATES john! |

OK, One thing he used to do... When he got an idea for a song, and he thought it sounded really good, he would sometimes call his friend at 2:00AM or however late it might be, and play it to him over the phone. He also had these great big green waders, you know those ones people use to fish? His friends would call him Kermit when he wore those. When he first wore them to his friends house, he showed up at the door with those on, and all the fishing gear all ready to go. His friend was amused by that. He also used to play guitar and sing on his friend's back porch. Its a fairly dense area. Condos nearby. I wonder how the neighborhood managed to keep that a secret. That's all I can think of for now. If I remember more, Ill tell you. |

Who? |
LindaH |
Oh Dang! I knew I would remember something after hitting the submit button. My aunt used to work at a photo lab, and John Denver's friends came in to get photos developed. Theres this one picture he took, and she was able to make an extra copy of that picture to keep. I was told it was this one picture that was enlarged and matted, and ended up turned over to back a different picture that ended up at my grandad's house. I ended up with the picture. I'm not 100% sure that's the one, but my mom says it is. |

Of course I do. I'm from Colorado. That's like asking a New Jerseyite if he'd miss Bruce Springsteen or Bon Jovi. |

Denver. Right near LoDo, and only about tne blocks north of Mile High Stadium, and within walking distance of Coors Field and the Pepsi Center. |
CarolL | | (reply to justjulie) posted 6-Feb-2002 4:00pm |
His dad probably LOVES John but is afraid of what his buds would think |
CarolL | | (reply to LindaH) posted 6-Feb-2002 4:08pm |
Geez, that thing about the song at 2 in the morning is just like what I used to do when I got drunk and sentiMENTAL. I had a couple of friends who would let me call them up in the middle of the night and play a song I had heard that suddenly held some deep meaning to me, and let me play it to them over the phone while I howled out the words in the background through my tears and hiccups. Thank goodness for good friends. |
| justjulie |
cool, how long have you been in denver? did you live anywhere else in colorado before denver? |
| justjulie | | (reply to CarolL) posted 6-Feb-2002 4:28pm |

he played Gilligan on Gilligan's Island. When the show was cancelled he became a folk singer and was so popular that they re-named the capital city of the state of Colorado after him. He went missing a few years ago when he used his fortune to be the first tourist on a shuttle flight on the shuttle that had the bad accident in 1997. There was a big coverup, veyr hush hush, no one remembers it now. |

No, I was sadly born in California. I've lived in Denver since I can remember though. Of course John Denver wasn't born here either. This was his adopted home state, as it is for me. |

i think it is sad that he died and i like a lot of his earlier music but i don't think about him that often. |

| Zang | | posted 6-Feb-2002 10:55pm |
No, but I do think he had a few good songs and was somewhat underappreciated. |
| Zang | | (reply to Biggles) posted 6-Feb-2002 11:00pm |
romkey is telling a fib. The actor who played Gilligan on Gilligan's Island was Bob Denver, John's older brother. Everything else he said was true though. |
| mandy |
I never think about him... |

John Dnever and Bob Denver are NOT related! John Denver's real name was Bob Dusseldorf or something like that. Obviously not a chocie name for a wannabe singer/songwriter. |

Didn't like him when he was alive, don't miss him now that he is dead. |
