No, we're not allowed pets where I live. The only way I could have a monkey is if I were in need of an assistance animal and the monkey was a trained assistance animal. |

What a big surprise-this turned out to be a mandy survey! Who would have ever expected that? |

I despise all pets except for non-small dogs... |

Yes, because monkeys are just cool. |
| mandy | | posted 21-Jan-2002 12:09am |
No, Not really. I think they would be happier in the wild. |
| skylark | | posted 21-Jan-2002 2:27am |
... Why not, but I don't believe having a monkey would be legal... at least not if it was a member of an endangered species... |

No, too much responsibility for me right now. Also, I'd much prefer a more common pet. |
| Dino | | posted 21-Jan-2002 8:07am |
No, It's why I don't have a dog. I want one but I live on my own and work and it wouldn't be fair. Plus I reckon Monkeys would take a lot of looking after. |
| Zang | | posted 21-Jan-2002 9:08am |
In movies and such they look like they would be great pets. In actuality they are stinky, messy, noisy, aggressive little monsters that are much better off in the wild. My grandparents rented a room to a fellow who owned a spider monkey when I was a child. At first I thought it was so cool. I quickly changed my mind. Monkeys make lousy house pets. |

No. Well, yes, but no. I'd like a monkey, but I'd have nowhere to keep it, the weather isn't good for a monkey here, etc. |
| serendipity | | posted 21-Jan-2002 3:44pm |
As long as it doesn't crap all over the place and doesn't scratch my eyes out, sounds cool. |

(obligatory shallow joke about that Mandy should spank mine) |
| kaleb777 | | posted 21-Jan-2002 4:32pm |
No. They should be free and are too much work. |
| bandit1cat | | posted 21-Jan-2002 7:00pm |
I've heard monkeys can't be potty-trained. Don't need that. |

I absolutely LOVE monkeys.Back in 1974 I bought a china bone set of four 1" monkeys. Then when I moved here I lost them.I was so bummed out! I haven't thought about that in years. I would love to own a baby monkey & raise it.But I want one of those kind of monkeys that are in Japan.I think they call them SNOW MONKEYS.Their so beautiful to look at. But I hear that they get pretty tempermental sometimes & fling poo. As much as I would love to own a monkey I just would think it fair to the monkey. |

I have wanted a monkey since I was a little girl. I still want to have a pet monkey. Do you know where I could get one? |

he'd be prettier if he was smiling. |
Enheduanna | | (reply to lara) posted 23-Jan-2002 3:11pm |
He's such a cutie! What type of cat is he? I was just reading a thing about Somalis, which he looks like. |
| lara |
he looks like a somali because he is a somali! |
Enheduanna | | (reply to lara) posted 23-Jan-2002 10:07pm |
I thought he might be! The thing I was reading said they're very playful and a lot of fun. Looks like he runs true to form! |
| lara |
i've been told that he's even more playful than the average somali. he's very entertaining! |
Enheduanna | | (reply to lara) posted 24-Jan-2002 1:42pm |
I'd like to come meet him some time! |
| lara |
you should! we could have tea or something. he's much cuter when he doesn't have a camera pointed at him. |
Enheduanna | | (reply to lara) posted 25-Jan-2002 9:59am |
Well, next time I'm up in that neck of the woods, we'll definitely have to do that. |
SueBee |
When I was a child I thought it would be really cool to have a monkey as a pet, but now I think it's a bad idea. I don't think anyone should have a monkey unless they can devote most of their time to it. |
SueBee | | (reply to lara) posted 1-Feb-2002 3:05am |
Your cat is gorgeous! And very monkey-like! |
| lara | | (reply to SueBee) posted 1-Feb-2002 10:55am |
thanks! you and mandy and mallory should come over for tea-and-meet-the-cat too, if you're ever in new hampshire again. |
SueBee | | (reply to lara) posted 1-Feb-2002 11:13am |
Oh, thanks! That would be very nice. |
