If I thought about it enough, I could probably link it to the infamous _Star Wars Christmas_ TV special. Nonetheless, we can't exactly go back and prevent either from happening...

No. Who's Harry Truman. Plus I don't do conspiracy theories. It would be possible to make anything into a conspiracy theory.

I probably could, luckily I am shallow and self centered and spend my time thinking about pleasurable things and not dwelling on (rik mayal voice)booooooring(/rik mayal voice)things like this.

If you think about anything long enough, you can blame any event on anything that happened before it.

That's boring. You're just doing that thing of: What is the source?
Like, what caused Kennedy to be assassinated. Some say "It was a government conspiracy". Others say, "If one-cell lifeforms hadn't evolved until we became modern humans, there wouldn't be any people to assassinate." Of course, some Bible freak jumps in right then and talks about the Garden of Eden vs. evolution. It never ends. It's boring.

I could, if I was able to research Harry Truman (who I've heard of) and General MacArthur (who I haven't)!

I don't see how I could. I don't see enough of a connection between the two events to do that.

Harry S Truman was one of two presidents during WWII. He came into office after FDR died and was the presdent who ordered the H-Bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. He fired General Douglas MacArthur during his time in office.

Yes, you can. I'll have to find a copy of that essay my step-grandfather wrote on this subject. it's much more articulate then anything I could say. But to sum it up succienctly, the U.S. would never have gotten involved in Vietname either if MacArthur hadn't been crap-canned.

What? How was I rude to you on this survey? All I did was say why I didn't neccesarily agree with your suggestion. If you consider that rude, how do you act when someone says they don't like a food you like? Bite their heads off? God forbid one of your children doesn't have the exact same taste as you. The blood on the walls would make veteran cops puke.

No, we can only blame the US of A itself by wanting to control the entire planet. Even now when it's invading the Phillipines "in search of Al Quada terrorists". Yeah right.

No, not really. Most people here are getting sick and tired of "America's war against terrorism".
I bet you don't hear anything about Dutch (and other European) people demonstrating (and throwing stones through the windows of American embassies) against the USA.

I think I could, provided that it didn't have to sound plausible. I mean, I could say that if Harry S. Truman didn't fire MacArthur, MacArthur would have drove his tanks across the border into North Korea, and not stopped until the United States ruled all of Asia. Then they would build death camps for all the people of Asia, and moved American colonists in to take their places. That way, none of the terrorists would ever even have been born, or if they were, they would be long dead.

Actually in retrospect he was considered one of our better presidents. He regretted making that decision for the rest of his life, but felt there was no other way to bring an end to the war. I'm not saying I agree with what he did BTW.
