Have you noticed that occasionally, but often enough for you to notice this phenomena, a streetlight will go out as you pass it then re-light after you move away?

I have noticed that occasionally, maybe three times a week, I will be walking or driving at night and as I approach a streetlight it will go out, only to come back on when I have passed. I mentioned this to friends who told me I was crazy, but I have since read accounts of this happening to other people in a book and on the internet. Has this happened often enough to you for you to notice this too?

Yeah, I know this. It happened once while I was on a bike, with three lights in succession. I almost tumbled in a ditch. And stranger things have happened to me.

yes, actually there is a street light at the end of my drive way and it frequently goes out when i walk to the end of the drive or get out of my car at the end of the drive. i don't know what it does when i am not around so,?? maybe it just goes out frequently in general or maybe it is just me!!

Where do you live that your street light does that?

Whait a minute,I just talked to my two teenagers. My daughter said that would happen to her while shes jogging towards it.But then on the other hand my son said, that never happens to him.

Could i tbe something in ones body htat does that? Hummm that's food for thought!

I have a friend who claims to have the ability to do this at will. He is also an enormous flake however, so I would take that with a grain of salt. There are a number of reasons why street lamps would do this.

As far as I'm aware that's never happened to me. But I don't walk past many streetlights. I'm a country lass * wink * Well, I live in a village but my village isn't very well lit. My most common walk after dark is from my bus stop at the top of my road to my house. But that's unlit because it's just next to a big field.

I can't say it's a wholly unexpected phenomenon.

I take it that this was influential in this survey?

It never happened to me with streetlights, but it does occasionally happen with the lights and lamps at home.

No. You know why? The streetlights here in Costa Rica are on all the time. You've got it. 24/7. They never go out.
What really gets to me here is when the electricity goes off, but not all of a sudden: when you can see the light from the lamps and crap slowly fading, but it takes them like a whole minute. Eeeeeeee that's creepy.
Another horrid thing that happens to me sometimes is when lights suddenly go on that've been off.

Yes, I did see that article. It was interesting. I have often thought whether streetlights do this all the time and it's only noticed when people approach one as it's actually happening. I did read a chapter in a book about unexplained SLD (street light disturbances) where witnesses claimed to have seen a man who was searched by police to find out what he was doing to turn off the streetlights continue to walk down the street turning off every light as he approached it. The lights would re-light as he passed.

I've noticed this happens usually when I am between thoughts. It never happens if I'm thinking hard about something at the time.

Do you suppose that,it could be a control device in the pavement, that triggers it,to react that way?You know, like the stop lights for the cars?? It sounds so weird to me.

It's not *that* big * wink * Actually, compared to most fields round here it's quite small. Most fields are around an acre, this one's about half an acre. I live in a proper village though - we're just surrounded by fields on 3 sides - the other side is the route into Sheffield. I don't live in a pretty little "English" village though. We have several housing estates. We do have a *tiny* village green though (next to the pub). It has trees, a bench and a sculpture. But it's only about 5x8metres!! We do have a park too though (with swings and slides) and there's a nature park right behind my house (there's a wood and the stream - it's pretty but overgrown * smile * ) where we go and pick blackberries.

I wonder if I can find any pictures.......

There was one in particular at university that would die every single time I walked by it. I even watched it from a distance to see if it did it for other people, and it didn't. It was clearly out to get me.

Yes, it happened to me once when my boyfriend and I were driving underneath one. Just as we approached, it went out. I looked back, and as soon as we drove away, it came back on. I watched to see if it was just blinking, but it stayed on until I was blocks away, and couldn't see it anymore (yes, I watched the whole time! * smile * ). I thought it was just a coincidence, but I kept thinking about it the whole night. I didn't know it happened to other people! Scary.

I have a strange feeling... nah, I can't remember. It's rather usual for a street light to blink when it's nearly dead. I don't think it's very paranormal.

If this happens to you, you're a witch.
I once read a book about witchcraft and they said that if you look at someone and the immediately turn to look right back at you, you're a witch.

A bulb in a livingroom sconce flashed and burned out while I was sitting in the room reading. I'd been there about an hour and remained there for at least an hour more after that. ...so, I don't think that makes me a witch.
