I'm now legally old enough to buy alcohol! But, I won't. I never have. I'll just have water please - with ice |

I'm not old enough to drink alcohol, so I'll have a non-alcoholic strawberry daquiri. |
| mary | | posted 24-Dec-2001 12:43pm |
The same thing I always start with, a shot of jager with a Jewel, which is a mix of Malibu Rum, cranberry juice and pineapple juice. Then in a few minutes I have another Jewel with a shot of tequila. It always does me right. |
| Biggles | | (reply to Jemmy) posted 24-Dec-2001 12:57pm |
Are you not old enough to buy it or not old enough to drink it? |
| confetti | | posted 24-Dec-2001 1:26pm |
Cuba Libre. Coke and a tiny bit of rum. It's delish. |

A jewel sounds yummy! |
| mary | | (reply to juliw) posted 24-Dec-2001 4:28pm |
and it is! One night I asked the bar tender what they thought was a good fruity drink and that was their suggestion. I asked her what it was called and she didn't have a name for it.... so I named it a Jewel! |
| spidertea | | posted 24-Dec-2001 4:35pm |
I am in recovery, so no alcohol for me. How about a nice big glass of iced tea? |
| spidertea | | (reply to confetti) posted 24-Dec-2001 4:37pm |
Did you know that people who begin drinking at age 15 or younger are 4x more likely to become alcoholics than those who wait until they are 21? |
dab | | posted 24-Dec-2001 4:37pm |
If I feel like drinking booze then a good single malt in one hand, a glass of water in the other, and a pint of Guinness draught. |
Enheduanna | | posted 24-Dec-2001 4:49pm |

| juliw | | (reply to mary) posted 24-Dec-2001 7:23pm |
Oh, I'll have to try one! I like a lot of fruity stuff. Actually, I prefer drinks that don't taste much like alcohol, if you know what I mean. |
| confetti | | (reply to spidertea) posted 24-Dec-2001 11:55pm |
Yeah, I knew that. I read about a thousand magazines a month, you know I have that Coke and that thimble of rum at about three of the twenty or so big parties I go to each year. Don't worry And I hate anything stronger. |
Strider | | posted 25-Dec-2001 12:59am |

It is a bit early (9:35 AM, Boxing Day) I'm just into my second cup of coffee. I suppose you could pour half a shot of Cointreau in it. |

Just be careful.... most sexual assaults involve alcohol too. High school students whod drink are 3x more likely to be raped than nondrinkers. |

| Jemmy | | (reply to Biggles) posted 28-Dec-2001 5:24pm |
Is there a difference? You have to be 19 to purchase alcohol. I have had alcoholic drinks many times in the past, but I know nothing about being old enough to drink it. |
| Biggles | | (reply to Jemmy) posted 28-Dec-2001 5:27pm |
Here, it's legal to drink in private at any age - but you have to be 18 to but alcohol. Not that that stops most people - we don't have anyone checking up on pubs/clubs/off-licenses like they do in some countries. |
| ASexyBabe |
just beer? just any old beer??? |
| Jemmy | | (reply to Biggles) posted 30-Dec-2001 1:28pm |
Really? That's different. Here, most just pay some homeless dude an extra $5 to go buy them something. |
| Biggles | | (reply to Jemmy) posted 30-Dec-2001 1:36pm |
If you want to buy alcohol here, it's not difficult from about 14+ so long as you look like you could be older. |
| Jemmy | | (reply to Biggles) posted 30-Dec-2001 9:50pm |
Yeah, I can pass for 18 or 19. A lot of people usually think I'm in university, so I could probably get it. But I don't drink anymore anyway. |
| Biggles | | (reply to Jemmy) posted 31-Dec-2001 11:10am |
