Well! It's 2:40. I got up about 11:30. Reheated some shepherd's pie that I made last night. Got on the Internet. Checked email. Starting making my Christmas grocery shopping list. Looked up some nice recipes on the Internet. I'm waiting for the super to come and fix my shower door. I found a good recipe for fudge, so I think later I'll make some yummy fudge for the holidays and take some over to my neighbor. I've been thinking about cleaning up the apartment a bit, but it would be better to wait until the super has come and fixed my door. I applied for a job as an editorial assistant at The Oxford English Dictionary. I made my cover letter into a dictionary definition of "Kiehart, (n.) Justina; 1972-pres. Editorial Assistant Hopeful." I'm so clever. I don't know WHY no one will give me a job. |

Okay, so I woke up with only a small amount of struggle today, and dragged myself out of bed at about 5 minutes to 7, 30 minutes after my alarm went off. I prepared for the day and got into my friends car to go to school at ten after 8am. My first class was math, and I got a test back and then sat there writing a letter to a sick friend for the next 45 minutes. I got an 85% on my test. Then I went to science and found out that I got 100% on my physics test! We did an assignment the rest of class. Then I had calm class, and listened to a student's presentation on anger management and talked to a friend. Then it was lunchtime. I realized I forgot my lunch and borrowed $2.25 from someone. I went to the hospital caf with 2 friends for a special lunch to exchange Chrsitmas presents. Then I went to spanish and fell asleep on my desk. After that was Biology and I went to the lab to do some experiments and talk to my friends. Then, I walked home. I made a pop-tart, called to make a hair appointment, checked for any e-mail from my sister and logged on to SC. It is now 4:08pm. What a dull day. |

That's a really good idea. If they don't give you a job thy're crazy. But, if not, when I'm a famous fashion designer, I'll probably move to NYC, and I'll hire you! |

Okay, but I'll probably bore you all to death!!! My mum woke me up at 6:30am because she forgot that I'd had my shower last night. She woke me up again at 7:00am. She shouted was I getting up at 7:10am. I staggered out of bed at about 7:20am and down the stairs. I had a glance at the paper and checked teletext for any major news stories (like the end of the world....) I shoved text books, notes, and writing paper in my school bag and put Kathryn's birthday present in a plastic carrier bag. I sorted out my purse so I had bus fare and piled 33p for my bus this morning on top of my bus pass in the kitchen. I put on my fleecy, gloves, shoes and scarf, picked up my schoolbag and the carrier, collected my bus fare and left the house at 7:45am. My bus came at about 7:55am and I got on and collapsed into a seat. I remained pretty much asleep until my friend (who goes to a different school) got on in the next village. We talked about Christmas and university until we got to the bus station in town (8:25am). We got off and Emma went to get a phonecard and I went to try and get the 8:25am bus but it left just as I got to the doors! I walked to a nearby stop to try and catch it there. And I caught it. (What an interesting life I lead!!! lol) I got to school at 8:45am (a quick journey for me!) and talked to Diane briefly. Then I went into the Common Room for a chat. When Kathryn arrived, I gave her a birthday present I got a hug from her. Then we went to registration. She told me she'd been rejected by Glasgow university (bastards!!!) and asked me if I'd heard from Oxford. Not good timing right after her rejection!!! But she was pleased for me. I talked to Laura who had an interview at Oxford but she hadn't heard anything yet. I registered with my form tutor and we talked about Kathryn's rejection (bastards!!!) and my acceptance. I went to Biology when the bell went. There weren't many people there because it's Eid (or was that the one at the beginning of Ramadan? Anyway, it's a Muslim holiday.) We had a timed essay to do about ATP but I had earache and didn't do it. I should really do it tonight I went to Politics and asked Celia if she'd heard from Oxford but she hadn't. Learned about the British judiciary and had to write a short piece about why it was good that they were independent from the legislature and executive (separation of powers). Snuck out speedily at end before teacher could ask me about essay due in some time ago (I *really* can't do it!!!) Had break Talked to Heather who should have been in Politics. Had Abi sit on my knee. Lost all blood supply in my feet! Tried to listen to Cariad talk about "things that are going off" but kept having conversation interrupted by various mad people Went to Sociology. Very few of us present. Teacher agrees to let us do mock exam *after* Christmas!!! Hoooray!!!!! We all walk out after teacher shows no sign of teaching and instead drinks Cup-a-soup and starts marking work. Sit in Common Room and talk to Louise and Laura. At 12:30pm meet Kathryn and Lucy (along with Louise and Laura) and go to Broomhill for pizza (Kathryn's birthday). Have 3 pizzas between 5 of us, milkshakes and ice-cream Get back to school 15 minutes late for Chemistry! Me and Kathryn are locked out - whoops Knock on door and are let in. Learn about fatty acids. Watch wonderful reaction between glycerol and potassium permangenate!!! Whooooooosh!!!!!! Have last lesson free (hooray!!!) so go and catch bus with Sarah. Get to town, draw some money out of the Halifax and go into Boots to order Beth's Christmas Present. Have to put up with slightly snotty assistant Wonder whether should catch bus home or get mother's Christmas present. Get on bus....... See Kirsten on bus who somehow knows about Oxford offer....??! Talk about university, etc. Get off bus at bottom of my road and walk up it. Get home and collapse on floor with exhaustion! Anxiously await phone call from Oxford which does not arrive. Have tea. Give up on phone call and go on the net. Answer surveys Write an account of my day that's really, really boring!!! lol Type lol. Decide it's best to stop now....... |

Pretty standard. Woke up 'bout 9. Checked my email, went to work on my site. Then I updated some photoshop work I had to do, making thumbnails. Took a nap, 'bout 11-12. Worked some more on my site. My wife gave me the bells (don't ask) treatment. Walked the dogs. Listened some suicide commando. Took 3 full ritalin, so I'm still buzzed. I'm watching The New York Earthquake right now. This movie was to be aired earlier, on 11 september, and it's pretty grim watching some of the scenes. Ate pasta with extra peppers and curry flavor. Was too damn hot. Now I see buildings collapsing in New York; Empire state going down flat. Real life is more dusty. |

Monday 17 December: Went to bed at 05h00, slept till noon, got up, bought Envy by Gucci, took the train to Leiden, went to the university, saw my girlfriend getting her degree, went to the pub with her friends and family, gave Mireille the perfume, took the train back to Amsterdam, watched tv. |

Gor up at 7:45, went to the bathroom, made my bed, did morning exercises. Went downstairs. Got out my pills for the day. Had breakfast (instant oatmeal with brown sugar, two mini banana muffins, and water). Talked to Mom about Christmas and family stuff (the cats, her gas bill, etc,) Internet and TV until about 1:00. Lunch (reheated spaghetti with mushrooms, garlic bread, and water). Made a couple of phone calls, more Internet, looked at mail, talked to Mom about the mail and nothing in particular. It's almost 5:00 now. I will get off the computer, and have some hash brown potatoes and a hot pocket, more water to drink. Then, I will read the paper, watch TV, take my evening pills, and go upstairs. Then, I will just hang out in my room until I fall asleep. Sometimes, I play my hand held Yahtzee or Solitaire games, read, or watch TV. I also want to check to see if I have enough Christmas wrap. I will probably go to sleep around 11:00. |

That really was a clever idea, doing your cover letter like a dictionary. Good luck in your job search. You will probably find a real kick-ass job soon. I think I read in another survey that you had kind of decided not to join the Navy. |

In the interim until you find a job, you might want to check out sites like elance.com or guru.com for contract work.
A lot of the big financial companies also have trouble keeping editors on staff because the crap you have to edit is so fudging boring (I know, I did it for three painful months before my current job); you might give those a try as a short-term solution. |

Yeah... I don't know. While there's great opportunity in the Navy, my poor boyfriend of five years is REALLY against the idea of "leaving him for four years." Hopefully after the holidays things will open up. I'm going to Ohio right after Christmas! My mom is going to have surgery on the nerves in her arm, so, the day my mom leaves here, Dec. 28, I'll hop on Amtrack with her and stay with her cooking, cleaning, chauferring, etc., until she can get by on her own. And you know what? I'm REALLY looking forward to it. Not only do I love my mom and would do anything for her, but after feeling so useless, being needed is going to be a really great thing! |

Harrumph, so far...I woke up at 11, ate cereal, watched reruns on television (Seinfeld...the one where he goes to Coney Island with the creepo nude guy on the D train...not his best), avoided a phone call (from my friend Nolana--I jumbled her name to protect her identity) because she might be pregnant and I don't want to find out, suntanned, played POKéMON for awhile, ate soup and bread and a banana smeared with peanut butter (de-li-cious) and right now I'm getting ready for aerobics. Hey, I'm on vacation, whaddya expect me to do, tight-rope walk or something? |

I think coming to Ohio will be really good for both you and your mom. So far, the weather here in Akron has been pretty mild. so hopefully, you won't have to deal with a lot of snow and ice. Good luck to your mom on her operation. Please don't take this the wrong way, but maybe it is a good thing that you are not working right now, so that you are free to come to Ohio and help out your mom. You will return to New York with a whole new frame of mind, and things will statt opening up for you. Have a nice holiday and a safe trip. |

I was up until about 6am, and slept until about 10am. I was just reading the morning news when I noticed great big snow flakes, then soon after, the sound of sleet. My hubby was sick, so I suggested that he work from home, and decided not to go into the client site, either. I meditated for a little while, then wrapped some Christmas presents while talking to my mother on the phone, finished making some other gifts, and then made a big pot of chicken noodle soup for my sick sweetie and my sick housemate. I helped another housemate use Photoshop to get a bunch of photos printed, talked with tech support at Adobe to try to fix a different problem I'm having, and took care of some other business. Then I made three pie crusts, ate dinner, wrapped some more presents, and baked a pie for a friend, and started cake for another. Cleaned up the kitchen, took out the garbage and recycling, watered the plants and now I'm back at my computer, making some more Christmas presents, and getting ready for bed. All of this while dressed like Trinity from the Matrix (as per Mandy's command). |

I got up after about five hours of sleep, cleaned my office for a while, ripped some CD's, did some Christmas ordering, enjoyed watching the snow while I had coffee. I went off to lunch with an old friend I hadn't seen in a long time. We talked for a couple of hours, which was very nice. Then I did some computer shopping and some grocery shopping.
I came home and got ready for guests arriving tonight; baked a couple of batches of chocolate chip espresso cookies and molasses spice cookies, as well as two loaves of cinnamon bread, one loaf of chocolate bread and one experimental loaf of oatmeal brioche with several hard-boiled eggs, some proscuitto and provolone baked into it, as a breakfast bread.
Mike got back early from his class, we ordered dinner for delivery, a friend showed up, then Bill and Jen showed up, we talked a lot, watched a couple of AbFab episodes, Bill and Jen went to bed, another couple of friends showed up and I've sat up in the library talking to one of them by the fire for the past couple of hours. Now I'm really really tired and for some reason I'm answering surveys instead of going to bed. |

Approximately 08:30 I woke up. I noticed I was very tired. Stayed in bed until 09:40. Ate something with my gf while speaking about something. I was late for work for 20 minutes. Did nothing since I was so tired. No one was around so that was possible. I felt lazy. Around noon My girlfriend came to see me here and brought me some christmas cookies she had made. I don't know if you know them, they are those brown ones that have cinnamon in them. I've seen them in American movies too. OK, irrelevant, irrelevant. Most irrelevant. Then I decided to go on lunch break with her and we (that is, she) bought a new wallet for her 20-year old little brother (not the CAT wallet he had wished to have though) for 120 Finnish marks (ca 20 euro) after which she decided not to eat anything, so she took the bus and I went to the city staff canteen to eat something. They had some nice soup this time. The Danish pastries were a bit dry but otherwise OK. In addition to that, I drank a little cup of tea. Around 13:15 I came back, and since then I've sat here, taking part in these silly surveys people create, looking for game updates and stuff. What a life. I feel like I'm degrading a little by little. Now it's 18:03 and I really should go and do the things I mentioned in the nice "What do you see in the mirror..." survey. Bye for now. |

I got up this morning at about 8.00 am. I got dresses and washed and make up'd and got the bus with my best friend, Rachel at 09.15 to college. I chatted to an elderly woman at the bus stop about Christmas and bus times. On the bus I listened to a cd. Got off the bus and walked about 300 yards to college. Saw Alex, gave him a Xmas card, the college was empty so we looked for people. The canteen was empty, but then we ran into Robb. He gave me and Rach a cig so we went and stood outside. Alex joined us. Gave Robb his Xmas card. My good friend Scott joined us. Exchanged xmas cards. Went up the stairs and sat chatting to rach and alex for 5 mins, then went to my lesson. It was sociology, I got an essay back, 22/25 ,that's an A so I'm impressed Then listened to my cd pkayer while he talked to some people who needed him. We got let out an hour early as it was our last lesson, so waited for Rachel, saw my ex (grr) gave him some xmas cards to give to ppl that i wouldn't see, he tried to stop to chat but didn't want to miss the bus, so me & Rach walked the 300 yards abck to the bus stop, listened to some annoying teenage bints screaming and giggling on the back of the bus all the way home, got in got some pizza, said hi to my mum, watched a bit of Dawson's Creek and came on the net. This has taken me to 14:12. I have an interesting life. |

I showered, got dressed, etc. I had a cup of yogurt, more coffee and read some of the newspaper. Got online. My brother and his best friend, who had slept over came in and we talked for awhile and I showed them some stuff online. Took a phone call. Did some random things for my Mom(help get ready for relative's visits). Played guitar with my bro and his friend until he had to go. Around 12, my brother and I went to a bookstore to pick out X-mas gifts. I bought a CD, a magazine, 2 books, and a mocha. Saw one of our friends there, he gave us a ride home. He gave me a CD for X-mas. I watched them wrestle on out trampoline for about an hour-it was hilarious! Had some X-mas cookies. He had to leave. Random things I can't remember. Read for awhile. Watched tv with my bro. Had vegetable soup for dinner with the fam. Cleaned my room. Went for a walk and looked at all the X-mas lights. Am here. Am watching a X-mas parade on tv and typing... |
