babygirl: In the first problem, they cancelled out 'n' and got the word 'six'. 1* six = 6

second one, they are asked to 'find x' (meaning to figure out what x is) smartypants 'finds x' and points it out.

 * laughing out loud * I learnt trig the other day.
My Maths teacher told me about General Sohcahtoa, who was a Japanese general who wanted to fight the Chinese. He didn't know the angle of how to fly his arrows over the Great Wall, but he knew that the wall was so many metres tall. He split his name up and used that to work it out.

It's not true by the way, but it's a great way to remember it.

Those are great. I wish I'd have been clever enough to put answers like that on my geometry and trig tests in high school. I'm sure Mr. Blynn would have gotten a kick out of them.

By the way, the answer to the second one is 5.

3^2 + 4^2 = 25
25^(1/2) = 5
