Hey people,

This is a really neat site. I just thought I would start a discussion about this new web site I found interesting. I was thinking you would find it interesting, especially if your into a serious discussion about Segway HT :)

Talk to you later!

Can't you read the fine print? This is nothing more that a commercial advertisement.

I love the Segway Human Transporter or CRAP as I call it. I cannot wait to own one!

Very mature, you really think this is a commercial. Whats the use writing on this forum if I can't get other people interested in talking about something?

But I'm sure you know better

Thank you mandy, Your the only one so far that has answered my thread with a mature answer.

I can't wait until they come out too, I just hope its a little cheaper than the $3000 they are asking for. Again, hoping its that cheap :)

Of course Brian, I don't blame you for taking sides with someone who doesn't have a clue. But, maybe one day you could express your conclusions.

So, are you interested in one too?

I just forgot to mention, would someone advertising something go back to the site and check to see if people gave a dam about his post?

we'll let the people decide

rooster555. I've never seen you before. You have no surveys here. As far as I know you just show up asking people to look at a site advertising something then comment on what they see. What, you got sick of standing in a shopping mall with a clipboard? Of course someone advertising something, or more likely gauging response, would check up on the comments. Where would someone trying to get people to join a chat about a product go to pull more punters in? To sites where people already like talking about things, like SC. My God, you even included all the classic chat room spelling mistakes in your post!

So you never saw me before, so i must be a spammer? Is there a step by step procedure to do on this site to being able to post in the forum. How do you know what my intentions were when i posted. I've never seen you before, but I won't assume your an idiot.

But, maybe I should.

Mr. Rooster or Mr. Cock, whatever your name is, it is obvious that your intention was just as Kaleb said, to generate a possible marketing interest in this product. It doesn't matter if it's a good or bad thing, or if Many wants one. The point is, SC doesn't appreciate "strangers" showing up re-directing their attention for obvious marketing research. If you tried to generate a survey about this thing it probably wouldn't fly either. So maybe you should fly away. Mr. Rooster.

Funny post. I can't believe that now I'm being accused of being a marketing researcher. To be honest with you, telling by other posts that I have read in this forum, I really never thought someone so immature as your self 'warp9' could reach the levels of stupidity as you did in your post.
Doesn't this place have moderators, I am sure you would have burned for that post for sure.

You made your letter sound like I have some sort of investiment in Segway.. wow! And for some reason, when I try comming back to this forum I find all this negativity.

Are most of you all paranoid? Is the color of this forum the same color as the stuff your smoking?

And to think that segway would pay some guy to come into a forum and advertise. Better think again.

And if I were to eventually make a survey about this topic, and it doesn't fly, Do you honestly think I will be heart broken? And do you think I would care that you were right or wrong? HA!

Don't feel threatened, all I did was ask if anybody heard of a site (SEGWAYCHAT.COM). If i'm guilty of trying to stir up a conversation then shoot me.

get real dude

A word of advice Rooster person, the people here are long-time friends. Suspicion is immediate if you're new here and right away start mentioning a product and another website. Maybe you have no interest in this thing and your motives are innocent, but your return attack on the members here will get you nowhere except to be shown the door.

Maybe you should start over, explain who you are and go from there. Or just go.

What is it your business who I am, was it a requirement to state all these facts when signing up to this site? No.

As for you guys being long time friends, I understand one friend standing up for another. But what I can't tolerate is a moron assuming that I must be an 'SPAMMER'.

People who are socially retarted like 'warp9' should not start with people he doesn't know. I did not start with you guys when I initially posted my first message on this site.

Is it the norm on this forum to treat new members the way warped9 does? Is there an administrator or moderator?

I havn't dealt with such preteen behavior since going to junior high school.

rooster: I'm sorry that you got such a negative response with your first post here. I got the same thing when I first got here 3 years ago or so. If it makes you feel any better, most of the people who posted here negatively do not speak for the rest of us. I think it's really sad that some people can be very nasty to new users and I have been concerned with this for a long time. I hope that you decide to stick around, we could use some new faces around here. If someone has offended you, you can block their comments on surveys in the Customize section up top.

Thank you for that info. I am going to check it out for sure. The faults of the few will not affect my opinion of the rest of you. I wouldn't have come back if I took this real personal.

thanks again

Now, back to my original post, is anyone else out there other than the few that answered interested in the Segway. I gotta tell ya it will be real interesting to see what my state (new york) does when it comes to regulating these things.

City streets are congested, but the city is real setup for getting to shere you have to go. Especially not having to take any major highway/freeways.

I also forgot to mention one more thing, has anybody on this site see or know anybody that has seen one of these things in action?

Do the riders look comfortable on it?
Does it look to fast to be riding on the sidewalk?
How safe does it look?
...
Well you get the idea. Lemme know,

I've only seen them on TV, but they look pretty cool. I understand that some post offices are purchasing them for use by mail carriers. I would imagine using a Segway would be much more efficient and easier on the feet then walking the mail route as so many carriers do. The only set-back I could see for postal workers is packages. Generally mail carriers who walk their route park their truck along the route and load up their mail bag, but what if they have a package that is too large to put in the bag? Maybe a basket or some similar set-up to put packages in might work. The same would go for someone who purchases a Segway and needs to go shopping. Some place to put parcels and bags would be handy...kind of like what you see on a bicyle.

#25 posted October 4, 2002 at 9:43pm (EDT)

I agree, something for the postal workers would probably have to be worked out for them to carry more items.

Also, they also have police in some states using thse machines. I just wonder, they say it would be easier for the police officer to catch a purse snatcher, but what about a police office not being able to run after a crook on a segway :)

What I really wonder is when will they start selling them, and in what mass quantities will we see these cool HT's roaming the streets.

#26 posted October 4, 2002 at 10:04pm (EDT)

I can't really see police using them for any type of pursuit that would normally be foot pursuit. If the bad guy is running through yards, jumping over fences, etc., then there is no way an officer on a Segway could keep up and if he got off it I doubt he would have time to secure it so someone couldn't steal it. As to when the Segway will be readily available, well some states would have to pass laws to allow these to be operated on sidewalks and streets (from what I understand some states don't allow anything with a motor on sidewalks and bikepaths) and as to when they will be available...on that I don't know. Some of the same problems surfaced when the motorized razor scooters appeared on the market.
