Or at least, rig it to only go up to a certain volume.

when they turn it up real loud.... Then you have a noise off... It is entertaining for you and pisses off the person not initiating the noise off..

Grab a loud radio and start dancing around the house to the loudest most obnoxious song ever...

This seems up your alley. (Mine also!!) I did this a few weeks back for noisy upstairs people!

A couple of days ago, I ran the coffee grinder. * smile *

David turns the volume up, I ask him to turn it down and he does, but later on, turns it up again. He's always playing with the volume button. Sometimes he has it up so loud, I can't stand to be out in he front rooms. Worse, it's all open out front (no walls separating the areas) so nothing blocking the sound.

To be fair, he is hard of hearing in one ear, and the kids can get loud at times.

I hate that commercials are always louder than the program you're watching.

Me too. But being in a room with someone who regularly turns the volume waaaaaaayyy up and then back down for seemingly no reason is 10 times worse than loud ads.

Has he tried putting on CC? I know some people get annoyed by it but I think it would be a fair solution.

Your TV doesn't have that? I thought most TVs do.
