Interesting article for all those who tell me that it doesn't or shouldn't cost more to be a gay or lesbian couple!

Health insurance obviously not an issue here, never thought about that before.
Are there no insurance policies you can get as a couple if you're gay at all? | LindaH

It's more that they aren't 'spouses.' A straight, unmarried couple runs into the same thing, except that they at least have the option to get married. My opinion is that the focus is backwards. We should get rid of the marriage requirement for benefits altogether. | cloudhugger

I have the wonderful opportunity to get my 'significant other' on my health insurance. The company I used to work for and am now retired from has those such arrangements. It is awkward, however, when my Maary goes into the local drug store or doctors office and my name is on the card. It does make us think twice about where we go to for health coverage. It takes many open minded proffesionals to not judge or be nasty to keep our lives comfortable. So even tho gay partners can be covered under one of them, it's still society that judges. Living in a small town has it's benefits, but being under a different source of acceptance can have it's serious challenges. Knowing I can provide such 'luxeries' to my SO is a mixed bag of emotions. | verouge
