I feel like an abandoned old car parked on a dark stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway in 1969, a 54 Chevy Nomad to be specific (my first car and made on my birth year) already a old car at fifteen. I fell off the trailer hauling me off to the recycling plant where my future was a 4 x 6 compressed bulk of metal. I was soo high that when I hit the ground everything was downhill from my perspective. Good thing considering the price of gas! Like a stone I just rolled along inertia my only propelling force. With a railroad crossing visible ahead and a bell clanking I wondered

If a train left Conley Station at 3:15, traveling west at 90 mph, and another train left Davidson Station at 2:00 traveling east at 110 mph... |

I feel like I got off a party train. One full of smoke, dim lights and the smell of stale beer and spilled whiskey. the train was driving fast enough to not see what was passed up, yet slow enough to take forever to get where everyone was going. The journey to now is subtly forgotten, the taking time to smell flowers is only a memory form a vintage card, and the scenes briefly scanned through the dirty windows seem like a surreal alternate reality, seeing myself as someone else. Somewhere somehow the train had stopped and I don't recall getting off or really how I got here. Am I really here, or am I looking out the window right now. I think if I find some form of ticket stub, I can solve this feeling of a mystery trip. |
