I landed quite by chance on this guy and his guitar playing just blew me away. I like this song but his other stuff is a little too hard for me but still... Wow... Just wow...
I've just been being lazy about clicking links that lead to video.
Something went wrong with my flash player settings on IE, so I have to watch all video on Firefox. I still surf with IE because of all my saved favorites (I know, I shouldn't)... so I have to take the link over to Firefox to watch it........ and it makes me less likely to click video.
The video link you provided seemed to show this artist as having a lot of showmanship. However, I wish s/he had concentrated more on just playing the bass rather than all that other movement/stuff. I guess what I am saying is that it's hard to judge the musicianship compared to other artists based solely on the one video clip.
Yes, I could do a comprehensive search, but I am far too lazy for that.

Matty, I can tell that you don't know very much about music just by this statement.... All that movement is him tapping the instrument to get the sound of the beat and to play that combination of cords while doing so at that speed makes him very unusual. Oh and, bass guitars have 4 strings, not 6...

But that's tomorrow! (and I'm celebrating tonight!) I'm going to the Jazz Fest to see the one, the only JACK DEKEYZER!! (Great Canadian bluesman...)

I would say you are partially right in that I couldn't play a string instrument to save my life. However, I've been playing the piano since I was in Middle School, about 12-13 years old. So, to say I don't know much about music is unfair.
I never said a bass had 4, 6, or any other enumeration of strings, so I don't understand that. Maybe it was from someone elses's post. Anyway, admittedly, I know very little about string instruments other than I have no desire to play them; I think my fingers are too big. C'est la vie.
More importantly, I do understand that tapping a bass other than on the frets or strings to create a unique sound is part of a bassist's repetoire. I am only saying that I would have rather seen this artist's fingerwork on the strings. Please don't read any more into it than that, I am not criticizing this musician; I just wanted to see something else.
Finally, though perhaps not clearly, I think I did acknowledge that this musician does have a great deal of showmanship.
