Hello I would like to bring attention to the masses as to how "dirty" you all who have sat type service are being treated. Did you know your dish is to be grounded unless in an apartment building. Did you know all of that mess in and around the box is to be cleaned up and service loops installed. If the connects are outside they need to be booted with rubber gaskets. The lines are not allowed to be just thrown up or around your houses they are to be secured properly with proper fasteners not naile or such. You should be aware that if you live in a bigger home the contract laborer will lie and try to pass you up. They are paid piece work. This means they are paid on a scaled point system and try to match up to 50 or more points daily. This means they have no qualms about foregoeing proper installations of the product YOU BOUGHT. How many times have you had your install done and the tech jibbed you for a tip made you feel obligated to them or impressed by the sales pitch they made you suffer listening to. These women and men are at your home home to do a job correctly and are expected by the satelite companies to do just that their job. You the people have control over this and should be informed. As for the folks who have ordered HDtv and recently been told your dish is the wrong dish speak up because you are not alone. The amount of people in your situation is quite large indeed. Take a walk outside your house and look at all your wiring from the cable or dish guy look for that ground. You should be upset, you have spent alot of money on your home and some jerk who had no care in the world just trashed it and added insult to you be trying to get a tip from you. Drilling through your walls and not installing outlet boxes well folks they are supposed to and are required to as well.. Burying the cable agian it is a requirement from the sat companies to have it in conduit unless it is flooded cable which sat cable is not. They are required to put proper jumpers onto their units. They are not required to hook up your hitech entertainment system but all wires they disconnect they are to reconnect and assure i is in working order. Take a look at your dish if you have a small round dish it is required to have two lines come down from it to the inspection box. if it is the one that is egg shaped it is to have four lines come from it to the inspection box. Oh here is a biggie beware the installer mounting your dish on your roof he is to have a bitamastic bond between the dish and the roof. Also direst Tv frowns upon installing the dish in the middel of the roof or on the peak of it. Just giving you all a heads up as to what rights you do have thanks

What a coincidence. I was just on a roof yesterday, taking pictures of myself by the satellite dish.

Thank you harbinger to the masses. I can't wait to go home and look at whatever I am supposed to look at so I will have soemthing specific to be angry about rather than being willy nilly angry at the world. I hope I can properly find the correct ass to kick when I get angry looking at my dish. Please, check all your outside and inside appliances that may have been installed by a qualified installer and if they did a shoddy job for you in your area, than by god I want to know about it so I can blame the guys over here.Thanks.

Although, it would be a good idea to check those booted loops.

I've seen some crapty work. Drilling holes in a hardwood floor to run the cable in, instead of putting a box in the wall like they should. Telephone installers do the same thing, along with cable installers. They all use sloppy shortcuts to get the job done in the shortest amount of time so they can move on to the next installation.
