Back in 2004, I answered a survey called "Who was your first crush?" with the name of the boy I crushed on when I was in Kindegarten and 1st grade:
http://surveycentral.org/survey/17564.html

This morning, I checked my email... and found this myspace message:

"Hi,
The other day I googled my name to see what came up. The very first hit that came up was a site called Surveycentral.org. There was a post there from over 3 years ago that said Greg Toft was your first crush in kindergarten. I followed the link to your myspace page and saw that you are 30 and graduated from ((they's high school)). So I can only assume that you are "they", an ((they's elementary school)) alumni. I guess i should apoligize, but girls weren't quite on my radar screen in Kindergarten. I'm not trying to rekindle the school bus relationship that could have been, I just thought it would be interesting to contact you. I'm still in the area, happily married with a little daughter. Didn't mean to freak you out if I did...I just thought it would be good for a laugh.
Greg Toft"

Anyway, we've been chatting... and it's been cool to catch up. I got his permission to post this here... just wanted to share. *smile*

"Cool and embarrassing"? You have the greatest ways of phrasing your comments sometimes.*wink*

That's very cool.
I had a kind of similar experience. There was a survey asking who bullied you when you were in school, and I mentioned three people who were mean to me. I'm usually pretty careful about not giving personal information, but this time I used first and last names. Well, one of them, who has a fairly unusual last name, had a colleague google him and find that posting! So he (the once-mean guy, not his colleague) PMed me and apologized for being mean. We sent a couple of PMs back and forth, but then he disappeared and I haven't heard from him again. I did go back and remove all the last names from my original comment, though.

So, who's going to make a survey asking whether someone has ever found you from a comment you made about them here on SC? (Not it.)

That is so cool, They! Old contacts are so fun, especially from childhood! Sometimes I wonder about old friends, and if any of them are much like me, do we like the same music or have the same hobbies, etc? It would be cool for you to keep in touch with him.

I tried to Google some old friends before... unfortunately, one of the ones I really want to find has a fairly common first and last name, and they happen to be the same as some movie director or producer or something. So I get a crapload of hits, but none of them are the person I'm looking for.

If you know one of their family members names, you can put them in peoplefinders.com, and see if any of the hits have their known relatives in the results.

If I were interested in paying $40, I would. But I can't go there... I have other places to spend money.

The free part tells you a little bit. Then you hop on over to zaba.com and find adresses, once you have narrowed down the state. I forgot to mention that part. Sorry.

Yeah, some butt-holes from Boise. Michael R. and Lori K. McNitt. Their phone number is a fax machine.

I'm going to have to do more research. I googled the hell out of them, and did come up with a tiny bit of information. Boise is only a 2 1/2 hour drive.... maybe I should get driving directions from Expedia *evil smile* The police aren't going to do anything about something this minor, so it's all up to me. I asked the bank if they had any more information or if they needed anything more from me, but they didn't really have an answer, other than to say that getting a refund of what was taken can take quite a while. Of course.

Did the bank have any info on how these thieves broke into your bank account?

Linda: The address at 7829 Swift Lane in Boise, Idaho is the current one, supposedly. That is what is on my statement. But the phone number is a fax machine. Maybe I should fax them something nasty. The zaba search didn't give me much because you have to pay for more information. It did say he was born in 1960, but other information I've gotten shows him as 45 years old... which would mean he was born in 1962. DAMMIT!!! I want my money back!!

Edit (if anyone cares): I googled the address, and it came up as the Roman Catholic Diocese in Boise. WTF?? Lori McNitt, the wife, is a swimming referee for the YMCA. There is another phone number (hopefully not a fax!) and an EMAIL!! I'm going to email her right now... wish me luck!!

Nope, just wishful thinking on my part.
