There doesn't seem to be a survey # 34124.

The old way surveys were linked was like http://surveycentral.org/survey/34124.html but it says "This survey does not exist!" which is true as far as I can tell.

It's hard to say why it doesn't exist. There are a few possible reasons. Can you tell me or show me what context a link like that showed up?

Here's an example of an existing survey: http://surveycentral.org/survey/--35831.html just works or if you use http://surveycentral.org/survey/35831.html (no dashes) it will fix the link to be: http://surveycentral.org/survey/opinion-think-clow... which is the new style.

It was in my cache. I must have visited it recently but I don't remember seeing that.

Sometimes a survey will die before becoming official. Like, if you make a draft survey then delete it. Or, if it dies in qual. Other times, I may delete a survey. I've done batches of deletes on surveys related to dubious topics that seem to attract people only here to post about pantyhose, urine, incest, etc. Also, some surveys are offensive in some way and I may delete them if there's some issue (e.g. my ad service complains). etc.

Your use of "usually" is a concern.

http://surveycentral.org/survey/ever-noticed-can-a... here's one that's fairly innocuous, but has attracted a lot of one-off accounts over the years.

But that survey doesn't mention pee or hose...

I'm surprised at the number of people who call those 'cells'.

This one's address bar doesn't match the title of the survey.

You can basically just edit the text in a survey link to be whatever you want as long as you keep the -- number at the end. In some cases, it will correct it, but not always.

e.g. http://surveycentral.org/survey/bill-eats-yellow-s...

If that link got somehow generated badly, I could try to look into that... e.g. if you have a page where it's showing up like that (with the wrong/unrelated text in the URL), I'd look into it...
