My first phone had a rotary dial. A few years ago I was watching a showing of Pretty in Pink at a park here, and at some point Molly Ringwald's character's old rotary phone rings, and some young person in the audience goes, "Is that a PHONE?!"

That is such a loaded word. I googled it and the definition said "the state of being diverse; variety" and "a range of different things".
