The new cat (Pumpkin) is afraid of Scooby. When he gets scared, Scooby wants to chase him. I don't know how to get him to stop being scared.

CK any ideas?

Time.

We have had to keep them in separate rooms with a door cracked enough for them to sniff at each other when they couldn't get along at first.

Now that you are a cat owner, I recommend the show My Cat From Hell. It's like a dog whisperer.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Or put the new one in a large kennel so they can get used to each other. Scooby chasing him is a hunting instinct. We have one cat who does that too, but only picks on one specific cat. The others he doesn't bother.
I'm trying to break in a cat now where the situation is exactly the opposite. The new one is a year old and chases all the older existing cats and pounces on them. He spends most of the time locked up in a spare bedroom and so far can only come out while supervised.

Does the one he picks on act scared and runs away first, and then the other one chases? Scooby chases him only after he is scared and runs off.

They: The episode that seems appropriate is called "Felines and frenemies". I want to watch it in a couple of days when we are in a new billing month. Brian ran up our bandwidth.

That's usually how it works. The scared one runs first then the other chases. Cat and mouse game.

Pumpkin gets to run around and play in bigger areas without being scared anymore. He is very playful. Much more active and playful than Scooby. He plays like a kitten. He seems so happy.

Scooby is the licky one. He's always licking himself and people. He can't control his licker. Ha. Sometimes he follows Pumpkin around trying to groom him.
