There also used to be a device called the Telezapper. This was supposed to deter telemarketers. I'm not sure if it's still around. |

It is still possible to get telemarketer calls while on the Do Not Call List. Your credit card company can still get you if you haven't specified. If you sign your name on something with your phone number, you can get calls. Also, some telemarketers aren't adhering to the List. |

For those who are interested the site is: http://www.donotcall.gov However, I don't feel that this option is absolutely necessary as there is an Other option and the site wouldn't apply to non-U.S. dwellers. You can still sign up for the "do not call" list as it was not overuled despite efforts by the telemarketing industry to get rid of it. The list does not apply to survey and political polls, companies raising money for charitible organizations, nor does it apply to businesses calling that you have done previous business with (such as a long distance provider or credit card company), but if you don't want them to continue contacting you, you can tell them not to call anymore. Being in the market research business, I tend to keep up on these things even though it doesn't affect the industry I work in. What the national registry intent is for is to stop companies that are trying to sell goods and services from calling you. |

ASB: Well, in that case, I'll change my vote (sorry, Creator). I might take that into consideration. |

Elvisfan, I signed up online and you can too No it was not overrulled. There was stuff on the news just last week about it and they said if you signed up and they call you you should report them.
Please add an option for:
I am on the "National do not call list" and do not get telemarketer calls.
It is an excellent survey besides the one option that I think will get a lot of votes |

SexyBabe: I believe a judge overruled the Do Not Call list, didn't he? I don't really know, but I hope not, so I can sign up, too. |
