You need an option for 'imprisoned, but not for life'

It should be "caught and convicted". You are already assuming the sentence when you say "imprisoned".

magazineboy-it just a subject that interests me. I have hundreds of True Crime books (and even did a survey on the subject of True Crime books) and I'm especially interested in serial killers and what makes them tick as well as a strong interest in profiling these people.

Great survey! ('tho like Kate said, it may make sense to recategorize it)

ASIDE TO KATE (re: Robert Yates, serial killers, etc) -- How the Christ do you KNOW all this stuff? Time and again I am struck by the depth and variety of your knowledge. It has "smoked me out" on any number of occasions and never fails to impress me.

I'm assuming you mean after they are actually convicted. I think this should be under Opinion as this is not a hypothetical situation in some places, right now they have a suspected serial killer in custody in Washington state who may or may not be the Green River Killer and Robert Yates was just recently convicted and sentenced in the same state for multiple counts of murder. Also, you're not giving us a hypothetical situation, you're asking our opinion. As for medical studies, profiling is already being done on many of the serial killers in and out of custody.
