| dora | posted 3-Dec-2004 5:15pm I think they're naive.
What's the point of believing in God (and they obviously do, or else they wouldn't believe in Satan either) and hating him? They're really childish IMHO. I mean there's a small part of Satanists that is made up of psychos, another part is horny teenagers, and the rest is usually smart and nice people who are way naive. I think they are as naive as Christians, even more (see: what's the point of believing in God and hating him?). Obnoxious isn't the word I associate to Christians or Satanists. |
| Maarten | posted 3-Dec-2004 5:22pm No, flaming christians are much more obnoxious because they will always tell they are right and that the bible is 100% true. And they are always so happy. Yuck. |
| Jemmy | posted 3-Dec-2004 5:26pm I think it depends on the individual. |
| Jemmy | (reply to Maarten) posted 3-Dec-2004 5:27pm Damn happy people! |
| cerealkiller | (reply to Maarten) posted 3-Dec-2004 5:30pm Yeah, why is that? The religious freaks are always so smiley. Either it's fake, or maybe the way they live and what they believe in is the right path? |
| Maarten | (reply to Jemmy) posted 3-Dec-2004 5:50pm They should be banned! |
| Maarten | (reply to cerealkiller) posted 3-Dec-2004 5:51pm I have no idea, but it's pretty irritating!! |

| Kristal_Rose | posted 3-Dec-2004 6:15pm I don't exactly know any flaming satanists, but i don't care for flaming christians, satanists, or aetheists. Satanists are in a special camp because their entire premise also implies a christian or catholic doctrine.
What i see a lot of lately are those who deny the existence of god because if god did exist, they would be angry with god. |
| Glassa | posted 3-Dec-2004 7:30pm I don't know any Satanists. It might be interesting though. Just to get an off the wall point of view.
But, I have known some flaming Christians, and yes, they can be VERY obnoxious. |
| Glassa | (reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 3-Dec-2004 7:33pm "What i see a lot of lately are those who deny the existence of god because if god did exist, they would be angry with god."
Or maybe the deny the existence of God because they don't want to believe there will be consequences for their life and the way they lived it? That way they can do whatever the hell they want to and not feel guilty about it. Just a thought. |
| BerrieGrrl | posted 3-Dec-2004 7:37pm i don't know any flaming satanists, so i can't really say. but i can't see them being more annoying because i can't imagine flaming satanists going door to door to spread the word of satan. |
| bill | posted 3-Dec-2004 7:38pm literally? I assume they both smell like charred flesh, either way. |
| southernyankee | posted 3-Dec-2004 7:59pm I have never meet neither a flaming Satanist nor a flaming Christian so I wont be a judge of that. I've meet some people before who were borderline flaming Christains, but they were more of an entertainment (at least from my perspective) than obnoxious. And I dont think I have ever actually meet an actual Satanist before.
Well, I wont be the judge of. |
| southernyankee | (reply to cerealkiller) posted 3-Dec-2004 8:02pm or maybe they're all just doped up on some drugs.
If thats the case, I sure hell would like to smoke whatever herb they're smoking |
| LindaH | posted 3-Dec-2004 8:35pm If there's ever any Satanists that aren't flaming, they will be soon enough.
|
| heyzeus1 | posted 3-Dec-2004 9:15pm depends on the person, i guess. i dont personaly know any flamers. |
| SueBee | posted 3-Dec-2004 10:15pm I don't know any Satanists at all. |
| Enheduanna | posted 3-Dec-2004 10:16pm Yes, plus the flaming Satanists smell like fire and brimstone.
I can't say that I've seen many flaming Satanists around here, though. More like flaming anti-Satanists. |
| SueBee | (reply to dora) posted 3-Dec-2004 10:20pm You make a really good point! I think most of them must just call themselves Satanists because they want to rebel. Why would anyone truly believe in and worship Satan? Maybe they think they can call on his powers to help them get what they want out of life? Naive, for sure. |

Christian religion has become a social organization of hypocracy and pretense, it makes me sick. These are the very people who nailed Jesus to a tree. |

> it's fake, or maybe the way they live and what they believe in is > the right path? Maybe i'm missing something, but I always seem to know a lot more about the bible than those fake happy's, and can always seem to catch them in thier false doctrine and lies. Believe me, that is the community i grew up in. It's a wonder I gained any understanding of God at all. |

| kirst | posted 4-Dec-2004 1:41am don't know, don't care...tired of hearing about/from Satanists and bible-spouting Christians |
| Irene007 | posted 4-Dec-2004 9:59am Flaming anything can be obnoxious... |
| thevelvetcure | posted 4-Dec-2004 1:18pm They're both extremists and need to find a balance...simple. |
| caviartaste | posted 4-Dec-2004 3:12pm Flaming Satanists are more obnoxious, but Christians are more religious. I know this is probably going to suprise a few people but there are a lot more things I didn't put on my "I have done..." survey... One of them was dating an ex-Satanist. And no...he didn't become a Christian or religious by the time I got to him either...he was pretty much fresh out... Still had real long hair. Pretty scary looking guy, actually. Not someone you would think was my type. And he was pretty obnoxious, so I came to find out...the more I got to know him. He wanted to go out with me so bad that he followed me out on a date with someone else and invited himself to sit down and our table and stayed with us throughout the whole date! I have no idea why I finally conceded....
So anyway, I found the church of Satan fit him pretty well. I have no idea why he ever left. The people he hung around were not involved, but didn't advise against it either. They were in a band at the time called J & B. The worst thing this guy ever did to me was steal my car, making me late for a final exam. Luckily, the professor was forgiving. The Satanic Bible pretty much reads as a self-serving text, which fit this guy to a T. I can't think of anything more obnoxious than that. It's a good way to socially isolate yourself, as far as i can see..... |
| Zang | posted 4-Dec-2004 3:50pm I'm confused. Is the word "flaming" being used as a verb or an adjective in this context? |
| Galomorro | posted 4-Dec-2004 8:43pm Yes, what I have heard/read about both these groups -- both go way too far in their bids for attention. (It's "cleft palate," not "palette" by the way.) |
| moonstone | posted 4-Dec-2004 9:45pm yes, flaming anybodies are obnoxious. |
| ROCKMAN | posted 5-Dec-2004 9:44am Other, I can't answer because I don't know any flaming Christians or Satanists. |
| juliw | posted 5-Dec-2004 1:51pm I don't know any flaming Satanists. Not all flaming Christians are obnoxious. Being religious and being obnoxious do not necessarily go hand in hand. |
| autumnlight | posted 6-Dec-2004 5:32am I was quite ignorant about what a satanist was so I looked http://www.religioustolerance.org/satanism.htm. Serious satanists don't share the Christian idea of Satan. |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to Glassa) posted 6-Dec-2004 6:14am Yeah, that's a possibility too. In my experience I would call that grace and karma, meaning one has to have live in spiritual serenity and communion with the spirit behind their surroundings to have good surroundings. The ones who complain either go on about the terrible plight of peoples they will never meet, or have tried in vain for years to get some sign from god, possibly oblivious when such happens.
It seems you lean more on consequences of an afterlife, while I refer to consequences for the here and now. On the other hand there are also those with such pride and ego that they insist on taking all responsibility for their consequences and resent that their may be some creator force that they have to cooperate with. |
| caviartaste | (reply to juliw) posted 6-Dec-2004 10:05pm Have you ever read the Satanic Bible? I believe if you were to raise your children this way you would produce some pretty well-rounded obnoxious people. Granted, they obviously KNOW this or one of their tenets wouldn't be that even teenagers could not join the church without written permission from an adult.
autumnlight posted a good link ....you can get a good idea of what it's like to be a Satanist from this part of the site she posted http://www.religioustolerance.org/satanis1.htm |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 7-Dec-2004 12:45am Hey, what about flaming Santaists, coming down a toasty chimney with gift-wrapped fireworks for all the good little girls and boys? |
| juliw | (reply to caviartaste) posted 7-Dec-2004 6:47pm Thanks for the link, but I really have NO interest in Satanism. Thanks, anyway. |
| icurok | (reply to caviartaste) posted 8-Dec-2004 1:03pm I read the Satanic Bible when I was about 18. I was quite disappointed to be honest. I was expecting the whole cliché of hooded robes and beheading chickens and praying to our Lord Beelzebub, whereas what Anton LaVey had drawn up a set of fairly basic libertarian missives (i.e. - look after number one) and added Satan (most likely as a way of getting free publicity and pissing off Christians).
I mean, what's the point in calling yourself a Satanist if you don't actually worship Satan. It's like calling yourself a vegetarian whilst eating a plate of spare ribs. "Yes, but of course we don't believe that vegetables literally exist, just that the idea of them exist." |
| caviartaste | (reply to icurok) posted 8-Dec-2004 1:40pm Yep, this is true....if you want more of something like that...the Necronomicon stepped up to plate. CK would probably really get excited about the use of all the ceremonial blades hyped up in that one! |
| eloradanan | posted 9-Jun-2006 2:43pm I don't know any flaming Christians or Satanists, but I wasn't able to choose both of those options. |
