| icurok | posted 2-Feb-2003 6:41pm I'll tell ya what's bothering me! The tobacco companies (all run by men) have been extremely successful in convincing the firearms lobby to pacify the car manufacturers by distributing crack cocaine to 132 nuclear plants so that now up to 69% of women between the ages of 28 and 39 are unable to drive their kids to school without inhaling harmful emissions from the ozone layer caused by toxic fumes radiated by President Bush under direct instructions from -- yes, you guessed it -- the tobacco companies. Jeeez! C'mon you guys, doesn't it make ya sick? |

| harekrishnadasa | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 3-Feb-2003 7:45pm http://au.news.yahoo.com//030204/2/n8bh.html Tuesday February 4, 10:29 AM Victoria announces runaway train probe A runaway train which slammed into a stationary train at Melbourne's Spencer Street Station had rolled downhill without power. The Train operator confirmed the train had travelled more than 15 kilometres downhill from Broadmeadows, in the city's north, without its driver or any passengers. Its ghost journey ended when it rammed a stationary V-Line train with 22 people aboard at the Spencer Street Station about 9.30pm (AEDT). Eleven passengers on the V-Line train, bound for Bacchus Marsh west of Melbourne, were treated at the scene for minor injuries, with four people taken to hospital. Two of the injured were discharged while the other two are expected to go home later today. M>Train Managing Director Alan Chaplin said an internal investigation into the incident was underway and M>Train would co-operate fully with any other investigation. He said the train had no power and had travelled on forward momentum. "Unfortunately, trains can roll down hill and in this case we believe the train moved on its momentum ... it is a very steep gradient from Broadmeadows," Mr Chaplin told radio 3AW. "There was no power on the train at the time." Mr Chaplin said the systems operating the level crossings between the two stations appeared to operate normally. A spokesman for Transport Minister Peter Batchelor said last night the circumstances surrounding the incident had sparked much speculation about the cause of the crash. But it was too early to apportion blame fairly, he said. The government has called for the Australian Transport Safety Board to investigation the accident. Metropolitan Ambulance Service spokesman James Howe said the driver of the V-Line train, which was due to depart within minutes, saw the onrushing commuter train and jumped clear. "He was very lucky because his compartment was fused with the other train," Mr Howe said. He said ambulance staff feared the worst when they arrived because the impact had welded together the drivers' compartments. But they were relieved to discover that of the passengers aboard the V-Line train, only four needed hospital treatment. "With the Waterfall accident (in Sydney last Friday, which claimed eight lives) we were prepared for the worst," he told AAP. "And looking at the impact, it was certainly an alarming scene. "The V-Line train was about to depart within minutes and, if it was moving, then the injuries would have been significantly worse ... they were all very lucky." A spokesman for V-Line said the company had started its own probe of the incident and would co-operate fully with any other investigation. Hare Krishna! |

| harekrishnadasa | (reply to darkshadowsseeker) posted 4-Feb-2003 7:09pm Wednesday February 5, 10:24 AM Murdoch to become father again Media magnate Rupert Murdoch is to become a father for the sixth time at the age of 71. In an interview with Fortune magazine, the media magnate confirmed his third wife Wendi was pregnant with their second child. Mr Murdoch, who will be 72 in March, said the child was expected in the northern summer, or Australia's winter. "I'm very, very happy," he told the magazine. "I'm lucky in my profession, and I'm lucky at home." In London the Press Association reported that a spokesman for Murdoch's News Corporation in New York had confirmed the news. The 71-year-old told Fortune his prostate cancer was in remission and he worked out nearly every day with his personal trainer. Mr Murdoch married Ms Deng in 1999 and they have a daughter, Grace, aged 15 months. He also has four other children. Daughter Prudence by his first marriage to Patricia Booker, and daughter Elisabeth, and sons Lachlan and James by his second marriage to Anna Torv. All except for Prudence are involved in their father's business although her husband Alasdair Macleod heads News Ltd's community newspapers in Australia. Mr Murdoch also played down speculation on who will succeed him as head of one of the biggest media empires in the world, saying he had complete trust in chief operating officer Peter Chernin, but also praising his two sons. "Peter Chernin is a great chief operating officer," he said. "My son Lachlan is coming on very strong. So is my son James." Hare Krishna! |

The bag was found at North Sydney train station around 11pm on Thursday night, prompting police to immediately shut the station down and closed off Blue Street, which runs adjacent to the station. Officers from the Fire Brigade's hazardous materials unit isolated the bag and placed it in sealed containers before taking it to North Sydney Police Station, police said in a statement. The bag and its contents will be examined at Westmead Laboratories. Police reported that a 40-year-old rail employee was hospitalised on Thursday night after feeling ill on his way home from work. He was taken to Liverpool Hospital for medical assessment, though it was too early to tell whether his illness was related to the incident at North Sydney. A CityRail spokeswoman said North Sydney station is open again and all services at the station are running as normal. Hare Krishna! |

Have definitely found maths glass ceiling, perhaps am discovering selflessness ceiling too. Hoped this would not happen until I am old; at least 30.
